My Mood: | I just found this link this morning on CNN's site about SL that looks "safe" and informative... SL I-Reports: Your news of a virtual world - Blogs from CNN.com Good Luck!

My Mood: | Well, the demo's done. It actually went very well; I actually went about an hour past the scheduled end of the session, and everybody stayed! I saved the flying part to nearer the end of the presentation, and it was fun to hear the reaction as I took off and flew around the sim. I put myself on busy to avoid messages, and I used the NMC Conference Center sim, which is currently restricted entry (only signed-up delegates to this Saturday's conference can enter it). The computer I was using for my presentation was slow but bearable when I set the draw distance down to 64. I had a full set of screencaps saved as PowerPoint slides in case of SL acting up/going down, and I did in fact have to turn to them when I was unable to teleport to the next sim. I had a flickr-based slideshow of screencaps taken during my first year on SL running on the projector screen as my coworkers were filing in and grabbing seats. You can see this slideshow for yourself at URL: Quiplash!'s slideshow on Flickr I'll see if I can post a Camtasia version of my presentation later on. BIG thank yous to everyon ewho helped me by answering questions. I couldn't have done this without you guys!! |

My Mood: | Grats Quiplash. Did you present them with a realistic view of their potential use of Second Life as an academic tool? Or are they in for rude awakenings? |
