Sandboxes

A few years ago when I first discovered SL I used to build on a Sandbox. I had since left the world for a while. I am getting re-acquainted with SL now. My favorite Sandbox is now gone.

Can someone tell me some good Sandboxes? I used to enjoy myself because I could create and would meet some cool people in the process. Made many friends with like interest in a Sandbox.

I don't like the Linden ones because they tend to get too many griefers and immature jackass's.

I think premium members get premium only sandbox access, if you are interested.
I really do not go to sandboxes anymore, too many griefers even at private ones.

My best advice. Enter the sandbox, rez a 10x10 platform, set it to a height of like 1000, rez a cube in the same spot, sit on the cube, set the cube's height to 1010, stand up, delete the cube.

Resize your platform as needed.

I usually build on my own land, but the Ivory Tower Sandbox in Natoma (old Mainland) is a place where I have met very friendly and helpful people. I have only seen rare grief attacks, which are usually handled quickly.

I am not ready to jumo back in and buy land again. I have a small 512 plot and that is enough for me. I don't like standing by myself building all the time. I don't like the dance clubs and stuff. I have found that Sandboxes were my best social experiences in SL in the past.

Yes, premium members get access to special sandboxes. Its part of the only reason I really keep my membership. There is actually one near my linden home that I use. Very nice. Never been grieffed there or anything.

Try Builders Brewery Sandbox - you need to join the group at the sim. The very large group is helpful and there are also building classes run there.

Its about the only reason i keep my premium membership as well, those premium only sandboxes.

Last weekend during "peak time" i had a whole sandbox to myself for most of the evening.

For small stuff i use the New Babbage residents only sandbox which is for folks who have land in New Babbage, thats nice a quiet as well.

Premium sandboxes are a nice place where build. When I'm there, usually in some corner near the ocean, in the minimap I see 4-5 people max only in each of the four joined sim/sandboxes.

And never saw griefers.

Builders Brewery is great, and even has a corner where terraform is left on so you can play. Occasionally, if classes are on and lag becomes an issue, scripts are temporarily turned off in the sandbox. So I like to have a few alternatives. Dreams sandbox has always been good, with another building community established there (although I haven't visited for awhile).

I keep forgetting about the premium sandboxes (slaps own head )

I like to be alone when I build, so I use Bright Corporation's boxes.

That's more steps than I use. I just rez the box, sit on it, then set the height to whatever I want. Usually 2400, since I've found that most people don't build anything up there.

Once I'm in the sky, I change the size to X=10, Y=10, and then I stand up.

I use the sandbox at Fermi. I've not seen any griefers there, and there's usually a sandbox manager around.

We don't need the cube any longer. Flight is open to any height with no assistance necessary. woohoo and stuff

Except it takes like ten minutes to fly up super high. The cube is instant.

kind of a special purpose sandbox, but if you're working on particles or vehicles feel free to drop by my vehicle and particle laboratories. There's free full-perm example scripts, tutorials and sandbox space to experiment in. =) teleport to Teal 200,50,25 and take the hot-air-balloon up to either location.

You don't silly. The platform still has to be rezzed and "moved" to a thousand meters. I enjoy flying up seeing all kinds of things along the way.

The gth (height) function in Firestorm can be very handy too. I usually send the prim to a height and then tp up to it.

If you paste an LM from the map to local you can edit it by altitude too.

if you click in the Sim / Parcel Name / location field you can edit the altitude as well
