If you could own an entire mainland sim, which would it be?

I think the terraforming on most of the mainland (especially the older continents that eric linden worked on) is way more interesting than most island sims. I love the terraforming on sims like Tethys and Orwood, Ross...

What are your favorites? Which would you like to own all of?

I'd love to own all of Tehama for obvious reasons but I'm really happy with the 1/8th of a sim I hold.

And *shameless self promotion* I have a 512 open for rent in Shermerville at 300L a week, and one coming up in West Haven as well.

Tethys is my all-time favorite Mainland sim.

When it was up for sale in one big block, I'd actually, seriously considered purchasing it & relocating the Shelter there. We just never could afford it

that would be so great. The Shelter in Tethys! I really like the little plot that is like a tiny green valley in that sim between the 2 mountains, and on the water.

and seriously I like owning Slate and will gladly buy Ryan Linden's land off him if he ever feels like selling it. I also love Ravenglass' terraforming and tried to talk the Slate crew into bidding when it was first auctioned so the group could own an entire sim.

What I don't like about Mainland sims now is the 4m terraforming limit. I'd much rather they canned the limit and reimplemented the slope rule but knock it up to sixty or seventy-five degrees so that people with a lot of land could form hills and valleys without creating walls of land right against their neighbors' smaller lots. A four meter wall of land outside my window is still a wall of land outside my window.

Any of them. Then If I could sell it at those insane auction prices and buy a couple more PIs, I'd be very happy

A friend and I owned everywhere from 2k to a height of 20k over the course of about 18 months in late 2005-2007. Mostly on the coast, which we built a large ruined castle/garden on the steep hillsides. We love hills. Great sunsets, too.

I miss it. I'd never use it as my primary SL home again, but I wouldn't mind an opportunity to build a huge sprawling ruin across the entire sim, to complete the vision.

Maybe there was only one owner between us then, because I had it in 2005! If I recall correctly, the person who purchased it from me divided it up for resale.

It's funny how you can place sentimential value on virtual land! There are a couple of places I wouldn't mind 'having back' if I spent more time in SL - an island in Kitzbuhel, and an island in Dacia.

Remember the gardens in Benicia just north of Meins? They were gorgeous grande. I can't remember who built them but there are tapestries of them in the upper room of the castle in Slate. One of Higbee's park in Zoe is there as well.

Oh god Zoe, I bought 1/2 the land there twice, once to donate to the park, then again to donate to the Coda's for our large scale building contests. Silly Khamon used to buy and give away loads of land when it only cost and sold for a few lindens a meter.

I own all of the mainland sim Mavericks, which I started out only owning about 1/4 of. I also own part of Kelham that connects to Mavericks, so I own the whole beachfront there. It is still my favorite of all the mainland sims, and luckily to this day still only has sims on two sides of it.

I originally had Fujin - I regret selling it, perhaps the nicest landscape in SL. I had a huge Egyptian temple over it - The Temple of Hathor.

Then I had Tuppi - another gorgeous old sim (why are they all so FLAT now?). I sold it when I got my island. Made a huge profit, by coincidence, but I still rather miss it.

*sighs dramatically*

None... I'd rather have an island. I don't like the way mainlands work.

That being said, I'd do a hell of a lot of terraforming on an island sim.

One of my very best friends owns well over half of Tethys. You shoudl check it out he did a pretty sweet ass build that carries over to the next sim and at the highest point in the sim he has a cool little cabin with long narrow wood and rope bridges leading to other peaks in the sim. You should really check it out because you would see its in good hands of someone who also shares a real love for the sim.
