Hyper-active Security Orbs at OneVoice?

I stopped by the OneVoice Fundraiser for Gaia Phoenix the other day and found some lovely clothes. However, one thing was a bit annoying-- I almost didn't pick up anything because I got booted literally 5 seconds after I tped in due to my Huddles AO.

Yes, an orb that kicks people wearing a certain amount of scripts is a good idea. But isn't it common courtesy to set it more than 10 seconds (4 seconds by the time you actually rez)? When I had an orb, I had it at 30 seconds warning, which gives people the ability to actually react before booting them. It's just a really simple thing to to be polite.

Thoughts?

Remove your scripted items and get over it. There are my thoughts.

With all due respect, did you actually read what I said? I removed my AO and I agree with the orb. I just don't like how it was handled.

Yes, and I shall repeat myself. Take off your scripted items, and get over it. No one needs to give you warning on a privately owned sim. You should have had the foresight to know what is acceptable script usage at an event and work around it, not demand warnings because you weren't thinking.

My thoughts? When i have issues with any event inworld, i usually contact the organizers instead of starting a thread in SLU.

I agree it really sucks to get disconnected if you are teleported home quickly by an orb. But maybe that kick in the pants will be a good lesson to those who easily forget to take off scripts before going to laggy events. Anyways I think it's up to the organizers and they've made their choice. The worst that can happen is a disconnect.

Take off your scripted shit or don't shop there, this is now the second or third thread bitching about it, to say nothing of the extremely long bitchfest in the thread about the event specifically.

Because being teleported off-sim in a video game is like having a pickled dildo forcibly shoved into your eye-socket. It's so horrible!

I don't read every thread.

And I enjoyed the event and tried to be as polite as possible. Is expressing something that annoyed me in a reasonable manner now a crime ?

I honestly don´t get it. If you don´t want to take scripts off, don´t shop there, if you have contacted the organizers, and they haven´t changed it thougth luck is their event, their rules, starting threads here is a mean spirited way of putting preassure on the event in public, and with SLU´s google-fu just a very shitty thingh to do to the event.

Yes, you're the only one who gives two figs about "common decency," so even though the event has been open over a week, the likelihood of anyone posting about something which offended/irritated/whatever them is null: until you post.

How much script does a person really need to tote around anyway? I went to One Voice wearing all my normal stuff, including my AO, and didn't run into any problem.

Next time go naked and ruthed.
At least they won't boot you for using too many scripts.

People start threads about irritations about things that happen in world all the time. Some are reacted to hostilely, as this one was by some posters. Others are taken and discussed without much of an issue. Maybe because it was discussed to death in another recent thread, or the fact that the sim and security orb is set by a forum member. I don't know. I do think, though, that expecting someone to know what was written in a huge thread about an unrelated topic is a little unreasonable. Personally, I don't think this topic needed a "get over it" response.

As for the delay before ejecting mentioned in the OP, I don't think it is necessary, especially for a big event. When you are ejected, you know why you were ejected, and you can make the necessary adjustments before you return. It would be nice, though, if the message included the limits, not just saying you exceeded the limits.

I was only wearing an AO-- it's a bit old but it's full of no-copy anims which I don't want to lose. And it's never been a problem ever before.

Which is why this surprised me.

You can move the no-copy animations out of the existing AO into a newer AO, or even into a client-side AO, without losing the animations.

If you trust the inventory system far enough.

Not if you know people who have lost thousands of dollars of animations due to a bug with the Huddles AO or have had boxes of rare stuff go poof.

Why would an AO in an inventory be safer than anything else in an inventory?

Anyway, I keep all my stuff under my mattress.
