So I teleport to {whats next} for that swing that's on sale, and there's a significant group of people at the landing site. And the following happens in local chat. Just WTF.

ETA: Names taken out because it was apparently pissing people off. They'd been included because it didn't seem possible to shame somebody who didn't seem to be ashamed in the first place, so I didn't see a reason to change them. *shrug*

As pointed out later, location included because I thought it would create context. "{whats next} landing site" creates a particularly clear mental image for me, so I thought it would be more descriptive of the setting and general goings-on than it apparently was. Nobody affiliated with the store was involved.

maybe the other person TP from the marketplace deliver message inworld and tp straight in the this guy bedroom when he was having quality time and they tp into his shop and start talking to the guy and you arrived just coming in the wrong time can make a huge change in what you see when you arrive in a place dunnot take conclusions without knowing the whole event.

I wouldn't be very sad if I too wasn't among the few chosen ones the "other person" actually wants to talk to. And he wouldn't have had to mention that the conversation was over, because I'd have had enough before that.
I agree with yure4u that you might not have gotten the whole context as you TP'd in when he and his friends were already there. But that's no excuse for him being so rude.

Well yes, but I wanted to clarify that it wasn't the store owner because then it would sound bad for the store.. I was just providing context. It's a well-known place that I figured would give people a mental image of the setting rather than creating an association between the particular person and the location.
I should have been clearer about that.

But yea, valid point that only an idiot says something in public chat and then freaks out that somebody replied. ..that's what conference IMs are for.

I find people who speak in general chat and then get upset when you answer to be very rude.

I was at Collabor88 recently and this person started asking questions.

"Do you like that?" and " Do you think I should get red or blue?"
Things like that.
It appeared to me that no one was answering her, so I started to, then she railed on me that she was talking to Person X and to mind my own business.

Perhaps the other person was answering on voice or in IM? I don't know, I didn't see responses, it sure looked liked she was addressing me.

It was highly uncomfortable and I just left.

I wave at people I don't know all the time. It's just polite.. I'm walking the dog down the street, they drive by and wave, I wave back.
Nope, nobody ever gotten pissed at me for that, as far as I know.

I finally found out the name of the lady I always run into on the trail! Lori. We've been passing each other and saying hi like almost daily, and it only took like a year and a half or something to find out each others' names! She just walks herself, not with a dog. Usually I learn people's dogs' names, and then I refer to the person as [insert dog name here]'s mommy/daddy.

There was no chat that led up to that!
When I got to the landing point I said something like "woah, people!," as I always do when I TP into somewhere and it's more crowded than I expected. There wasn't any conversation or anything going on so far as I could tell.

Crap, I don't have local chat logs saved! (BTW, why would that cause lag? There's a warning next to "save nearby chat logs on my computer" that says it may cause lag. That doesn't quite make sense though.)

I also don't have my avatar listed in search! I know I didn't tell it specifically not to do that. I guess nobody ever searches for me or they would have informed me that I'm not searchable! ..assuming that they could find me to do so. Oops.

It makes it ever so much harder to identify crazy people. Used to be people talking to themselves were nuts. Now people talking to themselves have an earpiece phone or something.

I would be mortified if I was wearing a blogger tag, and then spoke like that. I guess I'm just old fashioned, but, dropping one or two letters doesn't shorten your typing speed really.
