Client: Singularity | If You Were A Linden Imagine that you had a chance to work for Linden Lab, using the skills and talents that you possess. Which department would you want to work in, or what job title? What goals would you most want to accomplish? If you had the opportunity, would you actually want to be a Linden? I would like to work in community management and development. My main goal would be to promote quality resident-run communities and activities, to increase retention and ultimately revenue. I'd like to bring back the Community Gateway program, but with some changes; while some gateways would be educationally-oriented with tutorials and classes, most would be focused on the next step - worthwhile activities to engage new users. Gateways would receive rewards for participating, preferably a discounted or free sim, but would also have clear expectations to meet and responsibilities such as a minimum number of events per week. I would also like to be part of a team overhauling the Events listing system to provide more options for editorial control as well as user personalization. SL would benefit greatly from a comprehensive event and calendar system allowing users to see the categories they're interested in, add items to their personal calendar, sign up to follow venue calendars, etc. Events should have content ratings that are separate from sim rating, and the calendar should filter separately from places search, so one can for example have Adult places search on but adult events search off. Better events listings mean more engaged users, higher retention rates and ultimately more people paying tier. I am not highly technical or a programmer. What I love is online communities and helping people connect. I also love live music and art and want to see those communities thrive in SL. Creative and successful communities are key to SL's success. I have considered applying to work for LL. However, I wouldn't want to live in San Francisco due to the cost of living and my preferred environment (a rural area or at least a suburb with space to have a house and lots of dogs.) I also like to keep my own schedule and I'm really not a morning person, unless you count 2:30am. Oh, and this may sound silly, but I'd really hate to have to use the official viewer. I love Firestorm and Phoenix and would be totally lost on another viewer without the features I use daily. But, if I could live an hour or two away, work from home, and just go into the office once a week or so, I'd definitely consider it.

Business: Faerycat Designs Client: Firestorm | If I were a Linden, I'd want to work trying to motivate everyone to work together, and communicate what each department was doing. I'd prefer something more crafty, but I think coordinating is more important. |

| I want to be a policy and proposals overseer. All I'll need is a foot long ruler to smack fingers with.

Business: Black Operations Client: Singularity | Ironically, the job I'd be qualified for, and one that they probably need: Public policy analyst. Work with Linden Lab to identify current and future legislation and regulations that have the potential to impact their business. Lobby representatives and members of regulatory agencies to ensure that those new policies do not hinder the growth of LL's technologies or create unintended consequences for LL, in the process attempting to educate policymakers on the technical issues involved. And something that probably gives the Lab serious headaches, coordinate and compile the different features of foreign legal statutes and policies that differ from those in the USA and help identify strategies to ensure that LL is simultaneously complying with differing requirements that are almost certainly, in some cases, mutually contradictory. In short, translating between the relevant legal, technical, and management languages to ensure that everyone is on the same page.

My Mood: SL Join Date: Jan 9,2007 Client: CoolVL | I'd be the lunch go getter. I'm really not equipped nor inclined for any technical position. Maybe customer service, since it is a part of what I do now, but since LL doesn't believe in customer service, I guess I'm back to going for lunch. That's fine. San Francisco is a nice walking city. |

| I don't know for what function I should apply, but I know the name I would pick: Clueless Linden. I guess that means that I would end up either at customer service or as chief engineer. Last edited by Sid Nagy; 06-25-2012 at 08:59 AM. |

Business: Eclectica Client: Firestorm & V3 | I'd quite like to be a Mole, and spend all day making enjoyable public spaces for everyone, and arranging outdoor art exhibitions/ building Museums. What to call myself...hmm...'MoleyMoley Mole' has a nice ring to it. |

| Senior Member ![]() ![]() | If I were a Linden, I would make more teddy bears. I would lower tier. I would see to it that the Jira team is doing a quick turnaround. I would collect unemployment.

| CEO. I'd have a meeting first day, advising the lot of them they had six months to have all of this fixed *holds up list* or I'd sack them all and hire some of the umptyleven unemployed people in their field that would be thrilled to have employment. |

| I would be in charge of all the pretty pictures posted anywhere LL owned, then only pick the dark, dirty and mysterious ones to showcase. Wha? I would make a handbag or something was included. Geez. |

| I would take a contractual position, I'd take them up on an offer for a Linden account just for the novelty of it, but it wouldn't be necessary. I would like to be in a position of software engineer and I would add in server and renderer support for: -Normalmaps -Specularmaps -Sphere reflectionmaps -Custom defined skeletons for both objects and avatars. And then I'd take my leave, and have SLU rage at me for not fixing some important thing I'd forgot about while I had the chance. |
