Why do I have the DISTINCT feeling that all this whining and moaning is out of boredom and an overblown sense of entitlement and you aren't really serious about getting in and supporting Curio anyway.

Otherwise you'd suck it up LIKE EVERYONE ELSE and remove your crap.

Really? MOVE A SIM or two so you can wear a bunch of shit no one but you cares to look at or cares about? ReaLLY, my special snowflake?

Curio should take a 200 dollar hit so you and your ilk can shop a major event and look FABULOUS while doing it?

I'm not gonna say, "fuck off.." not gonna say "fuck off.."

So. Yeah.
Really? Really?
I'm quite curious as to the point behind that.
Who is she telling to fuck off?
Gala? Hush? Those who complained about how the Skin Addiction group handled this? LL? SL residents as a whole?

I'd hate to assume her intentions here in caseit's a bit of poking fun at herself or some inside joke, but this certainly looks bizarre.

I'm so tempted, I may ask her. Would be the most random IM ever sent, but this is so strange.

Normally I'd agree Elysium, but you have to admit, a fuck you message from this person in this context is a bit of a brow raiser.

I'm certain there must be more to this story than first blush.

I really have mixed feelings. While participating in this event is, in itself, a good show of support, being a participant is good PR. So you're doing the right thing, but since this turned into such a high profile event, you're also getting brand exposure.

Small name brands who are probably struggling month to month to keep their tier up, I can understand the 50%. But for bigger names, I think it's a shame they didn't go in the full 100%. Especially if they only have one item in the event. Still, I appreciate that they are lending their names to the pot, so I wouldn't think it was fair to go after them for their choice.

To my thinking, whatever the cause, you're either in or you're out. And I personally will be a lot less quick to buy something if it's a 50%. It would have to be something I would buy eventually anyway.

I don't think anyone should go after people for not doing the 100%, but I can understand being disappointed in a brand that can afford it not doing so.

I've done a split commission myself on various charity events and since you (Eku) have still have to pay for the region when this is over, it's perfectly reasonable and a lot of people who participate do it for income and exposure as well as doing good.

My main objection is having the fuck you stuff on display when iirc, the vendor was taking the side of the person who instigated this legal action. Taken as a whole, including making 50% on each sale leaves a bit of a sour taste.

Then like i said complain to the organizers or contact the owner herself, as for those who can afford the 100% i donīt even asume who they may be because i have no acess to their acounts so i have no idea, and yes being a big name in SL means nothing when it comes to RL funds.

I think we're talking about two different things Elysium.
I have no issue with the 50%.

Eku, I get putting things in at 50%, she's donating the entire sim and it's costing money.

I hadn't mentioned it but, yeah I was more likely to skip vendors that only offered a portion of the proceeds and just give directly to the donation box. But, I don't have a dog in this fight, so maybe it's not my place to comment anyway.

I wish I had talent enough to make something to raise money for my favorite skin maker.

Just like to say Thank you Eku for helping host this , and to all the incredibly generous vendors and other unnamed organisers.

I got hit by your script limit (I was under the 3Mb but had 64 scripts to begin with) - It was simple to take of my AO and remember to delete those resize scripts from my shoes and I was back in .

There's enough goodwill that you could probably set up a limited edition plywood cube and people would buy it.

It's a very good point that event organizers chose to allow less than 100% and every little bit will help Gala. Consumers have the ability to choose for themselves if it matters and vote with their L$ to go with a 50% or 100% item.

But I also think Vosh is a special case. It was demonstrating class of the organizers to allow her to participate. Maybe she thinks she's being self deprecating or something and it's just a bad PR choice. But it reads like the actions of a twat from someone who should have offered a formal apology a long time ago.

Personally, I buy what I LIKE. I will not NOT buy an item just because 'only' 50% go to Gala. You know, 50% of the price is better than 0% of the price when I move on.

What I do think some people who are constantly pointing out how unfair it is for people to rather buy from 100%-vendors than from 50%-vendors is the following:

1. A fair of such a high profile raises your stores reputation significantly.
2. High profile stores imho could easily affort to donate 100% and most do.
3. Social pressure has been mentioned. If you felt, as a creator, pressured to participate, I will kindly point you to the many, many creators who do NOT participate and are happy with that. Have you lost your mind somewhere on the road? Or are you 12?
4. It has been mentioned that the traffic in mainstores generally decreases. Even IF so, it is temporarily and in this specific case, the region is nearly not accessible and many, many designers have set up the same items at their mainstores, hence increasing the traffic there by luring people who want the item, but cannot get into the sim, to their store.

I really have my doubts that this kind of event burns such a DEEP hole into a pocket, and even if it burns a temporary one, I am really very sure that in the long run the participants profit from it...reputation, lots of blogs displaying their items alllll over the place, exposure to a giant audience etc.

As for Trinity: That's one pretty idiotic attitude of entitlement. 900 scripts? Really? The last time I met someone with that many was in 2009.

Regarding Voshie: Bad taste for sure in this case. A pity. If she wanted to amke up for the shitty attitude that has been shown by the SA group, she failed at that.

don't laugh, part of this is not just fundraising but also making a public statement of support. I think you'd be surprised at how many people would want a plywood cube if it came with a notecard explaining why you felt the need to make a stand.

and before anyone points at me, I freely admit that you won't find me there and my reasoning was that I don't sell skins or clothing and I doubt adult furniture would go down well. That said, on the weekend I'll go splash some cash on a little shopping expedition there.

I totally agree. I said some time ago I'd buy an autographed Gala plywood cube.

It's great that there is content I'm actually interested in purchasing at this event, but truly I'm just looking to donate and will top up any purchases I make that way.

Although, if there was a foot in mouth animation I'd find that endlessly amusing and buy a dozen.

How about I pay half your tier for the next week (10K L$) by way of support for this gala and you apologise, formally. The very suggestion that I'm just put out because I couldn't get in. Fuck, really think I'm that petty.

Why not just donate to Gala avatar directly?

Edited to add...if you REALLY want to just help, and it's NOT about YOU....you'd do that and forget this silly argument.
