I only like Wizard of Oz because I did see it before I'd read the books.

I understood Akira, but then I understood the Wall too....and sober both times

What is this 'awake' you speak of?
What is this "sleep" people speak of?

The same plot device they're using for the current reality show for Wilson Phillips.

How can it be annoying than someone bothers to send an IM? How can a business owner (even in SL) find it annoying to be contacted by a (future) customer?

If I got a reply like the ones you guys suggest here from a merchant I would move on and buy my crap somewhere else for sure.
And even if you are not merchants.. a little friendliness never hurt anyone.

(I can't believe I even bothered to post a reply to this..)

Well, is not matter of friendliness. As a customer myself i read the merchant profile to see the way to contact with them (usually is stated). I understand very well that some of them do not want IM's and instead asks for notecards, perhaps they are busy working in stuff or offering service in that moment to other customers. Me, as merchant, i prefer be contacted by notecard, in this way i can organize me better to offer customer service and provide service of better quality (is not the same as getting 4 or 5 IM'S almost at once with different questions). The thing is understand that merchants usually are really busy and taking A LOT of IM's per day…(not only yours^^).

Same here - well, except no one else was exactly drunk - more tipsy if anything. But, I think I liked RHPS better [saw that prom night >.>]

You so completely missed the point. Its not that people mind getting contacted - its just, we prefer folks to give us the whole problem at once, since it makes it a lot easier to handle it. And as a customer, I prefer blurting it all out at once because I get a response faster, too.

This, foremost, is absolutely true.

Winona, consider that if I spend even five minutes dealing with a customer, I've wiped out any possible profit I might make on the transaction. SL sales are so small that business reasons don't enter into the equation; even ridiculously expensive items are generally under US$ in real money. Most of us do this because we enjoy making and sharing things, not for whatever meager profits it might generate.

(Why does Mystic Gems sell things rather than give them away? Because it keeps them out of the hands of griefers, and they have some griefing potential; it makes people value my time more; and it helps cut down on how much I lay out in tier every month. The last is way behind the first in importance to me.)
