Avination is so good they cant even send the confirming eMail to me to login, and I set the account up about 2 weeks ago and used 2 different good email addresses, using one after the other repeatedly failed to mail me, and yes I checked the spam folder, which is where it probably belonged.

Logged in today...that was ok...wandered about the sims for a bit..that was ok...rezzed a couple of boxes...that was ok...tried to rez a few more..and all I get is an annoying flickering cursor over anything in my inventory and cant rez.

Sadly, whether email is delivered to your inbox, your spam folder or not at all is not always under our control.

Email providers run a complex system of IP address reputation and spam tracking which, unfortunately, also triggers on email volume changes.

As we can't send _less_ emails, we have to live with some nondeliveries. Yahoo, I particular, quite often rejects email, followed by MSN, who deliver our mails to the spam folder or reject them out of hand. Most others are fine.

As for client cursors - the cursor is controlled by the client and I don't know which one you used. I'm sure support would be more than happy to help, given the opportunity.

Beg your pardon, but I'd think the cursor issue was meant as aftermath to the original issue of this thread, y'know, SL downtime and such.

oh sure, the graphics are great... assuming you have adequate hardware. meanwhile the bastards disabled fly, rez, and teleports, stick with with one avatar randomly chosen, that degrades over time whether you want it to or not, inventory system is non existant, RLV is forced on, you have to do all these boring maintanence activities, oh and there's near daily downtime, which you can put off for a while, but it starts getting buggy.

on the plus side, it has some awesome mini-games that allow you to add NPCs, but they're kinda annoying and useless for several years... they added these nice sensory enhancements, but they're kinda buggy because you get this feedback called "pain" that really sucks. region crossings could be smooth but end up being more hassle than SL.

oh and I suggest avoiding the combat regions, you only get one life for all of them!

Fascinating thing...

I stood on the Sanctuary Rock sim for over 2 hours while it was reading offline on the map.

I would say they don't quite have all the bedbugs out of the asset servers, yet, so be careful.

Not just WOW, it's a feature with every MMORG out there. People even tried that in this forum claiming game X was going to kill SL. Last December it was Knights of the Old Republic, next month will be Guild Wars 2.

I managed to find the Avination emails, they apparently arrived in the spam folder about 2 days late. Logged in. Noticed the default walk is not nearly as elegant as the default in SL. The default shape is no mod. Wandered around the welcome areas, found a very few freebies. Compared to InWorldz, there are fewer people, the start out is bad, there are no default avatars in the library, or any clothes. I created a shape and modded it so I at least look something like I do in other worlds.

Or "we changed something, and it caused something we thought was totally unrelated to blow up." I've had that happen with commercial, supposedly tested software. Update a video driver and all of a sudden the web server won't start.

Yes, that's a fairly common scenario. But in my experience when that has happened at places I worked, the upgrade would get rolled back fairly quickly and then sent back to the testing server. Also, the upgrade would have been scheduled for non-peak hours.

LL is known for bulling broken updates through and never admitting fault or going back. In recent days this stance has softened a little but they're sometimes still too proud to admit a messup.
