Business: Satiated Desires Blog Entries: 1 | SL9B I was chatting to Qie the other week about SL9B, he was of the opinion it wouldn't happen as LL is moving (running as fast as possible?) away from organising anything for us/with us. I couldn't see how they couldn't. Turns out we're both right. SL9Bis about us organising events on our own land and if they like what we do they might stick it on the destination guide and for those "lucky" few, give it a mention in their LL social media feeds. Looks to me as if they want us to make SL look vibrant and alive so they can use the events to market to the rest of the world, rather than it being where the residents and the platform owners actually get together to celebrate another year of existence. My cup does not even come close to running over here. Underwhelmed is a much better description. more info here Help Us Celebrate Second Life

Business: Satiated Desires Blog Entries: 1 | is it any wonder? most of the stuff that he has to post is irrelevant drivel. Burying the birthday celebrations discussion in there is probably better than this idea of theirs deserves. |

| Senior Member ![]() ![]() | When I worked at LL, I was the employee who organized the 2nd Birthday event in 2005. Hosting and putting together a central event like that was messy and crazy and wonderful. In other words, it was a very human endeavor. And it was a fabulous (and free) showcase for everyone’s work. I think something very special happens when people’s dreams get to rub elbows with other people’s dreams. And I think it takes a fundamental understanding of the importance of community to put in the time and effort to create such opportunities.

SL Join Date: Jan 2007 | LL seems to think that just because we make stuff on their platform for free that we are making stuff FOR THEM because they take the greatest profits from our creations. This seems to lead to some kind of assumption that they can dictate that we build to their specs for free any time they demand it. They're acting like spoiled brats. They break everything and want a party? Fuck them. Hey, LL! If you are reading this I just want you to know that if you want us to work on spec you gotta open up that wallet! ![]() We either build to sell to each other or we build because we're inspired and 9 years of LL treating customers like crap then demanding we throw them a nice birthday party is not going to inspire many of us. How about this? I'll throw a funeral for all the great features LL has broken over the years. That's the kind of party LL deserves. |

| Someone can build a monument to SLM made of a giant Godzilla Linden Bear smashing and burning the marketplace city down crushing all the small merchants to death. merchant corpses littered everywhere. /humorous sarcasm. After all it is LL that distributed the bear burning the working magic boxes so it is LL's commerce team's idea. |

funny you should mention that.. I had started to plan this year's exhibit last September and despite the resistance from my scripter (who has far less tolerance of the crap dished out by LL) we had just starting to build it when DD happened and I decided that the bear would be more appropriate (along with resurrecting an idea from a couple of slb's a fair few years ago which involved a depiction of them throwing us under a bus). Hey ho

I bet a lot of other people have some great ideas. We should have an art exhibit to showcase people's talents in the field of e-raging at LL. It seems to be the only thing most users get passionate about anymore.

SL Join Date: Jan 2007 | I've been collecting greifing/protest artifacts for years... not standard poofers and screamers or sim crashers, but things people made as part of a larger story. For example, I have some picket signs from the save our sims movement, the dong gun and dongs they shot at Anshe Chung from some w-hat goons (that was really hard to track down, BTW), I have some green zone and some red zone protest signs and shirts, I think I have some protest signs from when they banned gambling somewhere in my inventory... I have hump man lame and the crucifixion of stroker... a full set of soviet woodbury uniforms... protest signs from the Egyptian spring... the latest addition to the collection is the Trayvon hoodie, of course. I'm not saying that I like conflict, but there is a lot of passion behind these creations. It would be a shame to dismiss them as virtual graffiti to be cleaned up and forgotten. One of these days I'll open up an exhibit. |
