Oh, great. Start off your post with the old 'Reading Comprehension' personal attack. Now the rest of your post doesnt matter at all.

Why though? No matter what the price is they still need to click 'buy' to get the item. If myself and someone else made equivalent items, put in the same exact amount of time, then they sold for $100L and myself at $0L where is the real difference? Or are you saying greed makes one a merchant? I think a few content creators might want to have a word with you about you calling them greedy.

Wow the elitist attitude is strong in this one.

Kara sets her product for SALE for 0L. (she merchandises her product right there)
Someone BUYS it for 0L.
She IS a merchant. Plain and simple.

She is a merchant who chooses not to make profit. That does not make her any LESS of a merchant.

Your hero says right up front that his 'sploder contraption chooses recipients of its "big winner fund" randomly.

Nonetheless, that's no more nor less "gambling" than many other devices the Lindens have chosen to ignore, for now. Of course, they change their minds all the time -- the Zyngo guy was whining to all who would listen about how he had to change his slot machines, not that long ago.

If we go down this path long enough, we could end up with all 'sploders banned. Not that I'd care.

I don't think so. You have to earn income from something to be considered a merchant.

So, who pays you Lias?

And actually if we want to get technical about our definition of merchant... the only merchant in SL is LL via the marketplace..

A merchant is an intermediate step between a producer and a customer. Merchant's don't make anything, they move and sell goods from producers to customers.

I think Lias is winning: there are still ostensibly intelligent people trying to argue with her logically, and even those declaring "don't feed the trolls" continue to do so.

I don't see this as a good thing, by the way.

You mean winning in the sense that Charlie Sheen is winning?

Naw I just say what I have to say and walk away.

She isn't worth the effort to argue with honestly. Folks like her just argue for the sake of arguing.

Along those lines; maybe more in the way that Michael Palin wins against John Cleese in the dead parrot sketch.

I have no idea about the sploder this particular "merchant" sells but I use one in my club that does not pay out randomly. It flashes a light and the person who clicks and pays it closest to the flash is the winner. Every time you pay it, it chats how close that payment came after a flash. The only thing random is when it flashes. It is used and people have told me they like this type of sploder over the purely random ones.

That's why I muted her several pages back. Now if only a few more would do the same she would quickly fade away.

That's some clever scripting. Psyke's Personal Security Armband has been able to do that since 2005.

So if I set something to 1L then put it back to 0 afterwards I gain merchant 'status'?

So the difference between a merchant and a non-merchant is just 1L? Not even a penny? So why again are merchants all-hailed in your posts if you can just roll an alt to do it?

basically someone that sells to a consumer is a retail merchant..
someone who buys and sell in like a market or trades is a wholes sale merchant..
anyone that buys lindens could be considered a wholesale merchant really..
we buy the lindens then trade them for stuffs hehehehe

Wilde and Shaw were both excellent wits and fine Irishmen. There are a number of points where I can't say I agree with their views, but I can't help sometimes thinking that both of them seem to have seen the Internet coming.

Shaw totally wins on the beard front, though.
