Business: Astalianda Client: Niran's | I fully admit having joined during that freebie period! I thought I had all the make-ups I could possibly need, see. I was so wrong! That gatcha of yours is ruining me. Ruining, I tell you! ![]() On more serious note, I rarely chat in any groups, because I'm usually busy with doing stuff and I'm not very group-chattery person. However, I cannot understand why it would be a problem if others do. I close a lot of group chats that get that way if I'm mostly tabbed out, just so that I can immediately see that someone IMed me if they do -- no other icons. If I'm mostly focused in SL, I let the groups chatter and the icons blink away and check them if the sudden flashes of conversation seem interesting. ![]() Blinking icons have never distracted me in the middle of a photoshoot. I don't know what viewer she uses, but if she has huge windows opening up in the middle of her screen every time someone says something, I'd suggest she switches the viewer to any of the zillion that does not do that. ![]() From what I've seen, your group is a lovely bunch of people chattering away and sharing fun-squee things with each other. Definitely well behaved and fun group! Also, if hers is a freebie blog, by any rights she shouldn't be blogging your group gifts anyways -- except for a notification when it -was- free to join. Strange behaviour and sounds like both you and your group are better off without her.

And because of it, the rules notecard was written up. This was a ploy to go behind my mod's back, and that pisses me off more, because Indigo is FAR kinder than I am. |

My Mood: SL Join Date: This time: 10/12/2010 Client: A few different ones | I like your group, Mock. And the gifts are the best and most plentiful out of all of my groups. I don't often participate in group chat, although I will now and then. However, it doesn't bother me at all, and clicking on "end session" takes care of it if I don't want to see it at all.

| Dat Burd ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() *SLU Supporter* ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I joined during the free period too. I was in the subscribo for a while (I think I still am, accidentally), and decided why not? Waiving 250L for a day or so was pretty generous and I thought it'd be silly of me to pass it up. It's a VERY chatty group. I think it's the most chatty of all the groups I have! But even saying that, I really don't get why closing the window is so difficult. I close chatting product groups all the time; under their rules they're allowed to talk about whatever they're allowed to talk to and people like me who don't want to participate but still want product notices can simply close.. I do wish official and/or some TPVs would add in functionality to allow us to ignore group chat while keeping notices, but until then just CLOSING is not difficult! I remember once in the Caverna Obscura group (which is also a paid group), someone was getting really angry all the time over people calling out store lucky board letters. The owner came in and told us it was ok for us to be doing this. Despite several of us having shown her logs that posting and talking about letters was ok, she still wanted to go on rampages.. in fact I think I still have her on in-world mute. Seriously. If you have anger issues over closing a window once each login, you probably need to take a vaycay from SL. |

Business: ~AMU~ Client: Singularity, Imprudence | Clearly this blogger is missing her calling in life as a retail business consultant telling us all how to do stuff. Suddenly tempted to stick my freebies in a cannon and wait behind the bushes with a match. As for insults... Try webinsult.com. Business: Faerycat Designs Client: Firestorm | I don't mind chatty groups - and I like your's Mock - its fun to listen to, and sometimes pipe up. I joined when it was free to join, but I wouldn't have minded paying 250, gifts or no gifts. I just don't tend to buy makeup so much, especially not now I'm a petite all the time >.> Maybe I should figure out how to make a template for face markings, face tattoos and makeup for folks to use.... o.o |

Business: ~AMU~ Client: Singularity, Imprudence | Or one big one...*winks* I can easily have SL and a browser open on the same screen, side by side. S'not even a huge monitor, just big enough to split in half. And I used to feel I had so much room on a 19" monitor lol. |

My Mood: SL Join Date: Nov 2009 Client: LL | I'm a member of Mock's group and of Sascha's Designs (where Rood is an officer/moderator) and I'm a bit bemused. Yes Mock's group is chatty (I love it personally. I don't often join in but I like the back ground chatter, it feels like having the radio on and I can dip in and out as I want). Sascha's designs is also chatty (probably more so - there's mention of it in the group info and that if you leave the group you won't get a free invite back). Nevertheless people complain about the chatter in there fairly frequently and naturally all the officers/moderators (including Rood) tell complainers exactly what Mock told Rood. I get that other people don't like the background chatter the way I do but I don't understand why it's annoying in one group and fine in another. |

My Mood: SL Join Date: Nov 2009 Client: LL | She sends out notices and generally helps with problems - I have no idea if she's paid for it but she's as much a fixture in their chat as Indigo is in Mock's group. |

| Senior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Typically, and this is just me, but I wouldn't join a group that specifically tells me in the group charter that I might not like the group. Like if I see the "Dukes of Hazzard Slash Fiction Group," I think to myself, I probably wouldn't enjoy that group, so I don't join it. I don't join it and then complain to the group owner, "You talk way too much about Dukes of Hazzard slash in this group, people who don't like Dukes of Hazzard slash are going to leave your group if you keep talking about it." The most important thing is that the group charter tells people exactly what to expect, and the group delivers on that promise. That makes it easy for someone who wants to avoid a chatty group to avoid it, and more importantly, lets people who like a chatty group (or will put up with it to get freebies) know that they should join. (By the way, don't go looking for the "Dukes of Hazzard Slash Group" to join. I made it up. Until one of you thinks it's such a great idea that you go and create it.) |

My Mood: SL Join Date: 12 Oct 2006 | Whilst i hate store groups spamming other stuff from elsewhere, its certainly your choice how you run your group. Its not for me, but its certainly not wrong. I think its nice you have a group you are happy with and can chat about whatever and are comfortable with it, enjoying each others company. As for paid for groups, it attracts me more as they tend to focus on what the group is for and they tend to kick any idiots very quickly. Last edited by Jenn Luke; 03-01-2012 at 06:26 PM. | When I used viewer 3 I missed many IM's and group notices because I did not see them hidden on the bottem of the screen. One friend who knows me in RL had to send me a message on google chat to get me to answer my messages in SL. Unlike version 1 where you do get a popup when you get a message. So how would all of the group chat be bothersome? |

| I found MOCK via SLU while a broke newerbie and was very grateful for the makeups and other gifts. When I became more affluent, bought a lovely Helene skin from her. This group is one of those rare ones that feels like a family and chats often contain useful knowledge on a variety of SL subjects. Her group; her rules.

Goth when goth was. Also,
socially unacceptable.
| I own very nearly everything Mockie has ever put in her store. But I dont belong to her group because it is exactly as it's described- and I know right up front, it's not right for me. No harm in that and I deeply appreciate that she's up front about its chatty nature. But the arrogance of someone telling her how she should run her group is pretty freaking massive, particularly when she's quite clear about its culture right up front. |
