Talking Outfits And You!

So how many outfits do y'all have?

Was discussing how much easier the outfit panel made our lives. Someone said they had 22 and couldn't live without the panel. ....So then I had to count mine. I have 567 outfits at this time. :|

So, anyone else have an obscene amount?

In all? About 40. Some are casual, some are formal. Gothicatz, Lapointe & Bastchild, and Sn@tch make up the majority. A few are for RP. For everyday I'll mix-n-match pieces from my favorites. Confession: my most expensive outfit was L$6K. I've earned more than that winning contests with it lol.

I'd run out of fingers and toes. Is there an easy way to count them?

Also I use a lot of partial outfits, like having all the parts for a jacket, or a pair of shoes, (and nothing else) in an outfit folder to make it easy to put on and take off.

And then I have outfit folders that consist of, say, all my hair or stockings so I can try on different ones easily.

The only way I found to count them was to open up the Outfits folder, and tap the down arrow and count how many taps until I reach the end.

No, you simply outed yourself as a fashion whore. There's nothing wrong with that.

Or maybe just better at being organised.

I only have about 6. Just a few standard basics I can pull on quickly. It might be fun to spend time making a few more, come to think of it.

I have no idea what amount is obscene, but I have about a dozen based on the Uchi Felis. As for the past 4 years, I've lost count how many variations I wore. Probably less than 100 though, and even then, keeping the folders updated with the right AO was a nightmare.

That's one reason why the in-viewer AO is helpful. It's one less thing to keep up with on the outfits. I tend to take the lazy approach though when other things aren't up to date, and just update them the next time I wear them.

Using a variation on your method, Inhandra (counting how many outfit folders fit in the window and scrolling in window-sized steps), mine came to 564.

But I estimate that maybe around 60% – 70% of those aren't actual complete outfits, so my count would be somewhere around 200.

At 567, I'd say both fashion whore and crazy are applicable.

How is it possible to figure out what to wear with that many? I'd have to log in and look, I'm up to 15 or so I think, and and for me that is starting to get bit overwhelming to look over that list to pick out something.

Well, anything I blog get's its own outfit, but I'm a lazy blogger so it's not into double digits yet.. <grins>.

When I discovered "outfits" I went a little crazy, ended up a crap load. Then changed my skin and had to go and correct 'em all.. coz.. well.. ya know.. it's gotta be up to date, right ?

Went through a phase of naming them in a sort of coded short hand which I then quickly forgot and everything started with "Blck...". Then just went for mood names, like "Channeling Depp"..

Now I have about half a dozen that are really just a "base".. Human, Demon, Muppet..

About fifty, at a guess? My main problem is naming them - or at least, naming them in a sane and sensible way... I seem to end up with some bizarre code that clearly made sense at the time, but which emphatically does not now. I'd love to be able to attach a snapshot to each outfit. (Also, a pony. )

Enabling InventoryLinking in the debug settings, and then using inventory filtering and Paste As Link into the outfit folders in My Outfits in the inventory can be a big help when trying to keep outfits up to date. There are still some severe shortcomings even using this method.

In my defence, I know my intentory like the back of my hand and constantly change. I never wear the same thing for longer then a few hours, I keep flicking through folders, adding this, removing that, changing colours and so on.
The only reason I started doing outfits in the first place is cause I had problems where I would just log in as a cloud, and nothing would fix it besides from using a complete outfit.

I have a sneaking suspicion my collection of my outfits folder will grow tho, it's so easy to completely change from human to demon with it.

That's how mine grew. As I got new avatars, I wanted to give them some of my favorite getups to make changing easy. Some of them got unique ones. So, there are some duplicates there depending on WHAT is wearing them, with some minor accessories variations.

Do you have a particular naming system that makes it easier? Most of my outfits have like a three-word descriptive title with no thought of organizing it on the list, though if my list grew, I'd have to think about organization.

Usually it goes like this:

Bluebird
Bluebird - Date Night
Bluebird - Disco Blue
Deer
Deer - Country Girl
Deer - Rose Vest & Taupe Skirt
Neko
Neko - Belted Corset & Red Mini
Neko - Blossom Longsleeve
... etc etc.

The ones without an outfit description are the blank slate / nude ones I can put on to build an outfit from. They're also how I swap outfits from one critter to the next: "remove from outfit" on the base avatar, "add to outfit" on the new one. The clothes and accessories remain, the underlaying avatar changes. This is, of course, completely reliant on the outfit changes that are in Catznip, Exodus, and FS, where it issues a replace on system parts (hair/skin/shape) when I use "Add to Outfit."

I find the outfits panel unusable due to lack of hierarchy, so I only have two: me nude at 6' 4", and me nude at 7' 10" (for blending with the crowd). I add clothes to that.

...What I wouldn't give to have nested folders in the panel.

I have 80 outfits in the panel, not counting nude sets (for valid artistic purposes only, of course ). To be fair, some of those are variants. I have no idea how many outfits I have in my inventory though... counting different colors within fat packs, it's got to be a couple of hundred at this point. I went a little... crazy there at one point. I haven't bought much lately though, since I've been so busy with work I haven't been online much.

About a dozen, but that number's slowly growing. I've a couple of quick change casual looks, so I can throw a "typical Myf" look together at a moments notice. I also have a number of themed costumes, so I can quickly have a look that will fit when I'm on a given sim.
