All we Loons still have a real family name and we all stay about 5 years in SL.

Reason enough to make an anniversary photo.

I invite all Loons to come to me at Thursday, February, 2nd, 9.00 PDT
and we create a beautiful photo.
Of course, everyone can get the photo and I'll post it too.

I'm curious how many Loons have survived :-)

i've only seen two other timtams, one being Circe, i forgot the others name. Although i'm sure there must be a few others about..

i think once you get to names 2006 and before, you rarely have that many to begin with... cause it seems as the years went on they left surnames up longer and longer.. so the pool of people with each name became bigger.

At least that's what it seems like to me.

They did indeed leave names up longer as time went on. Really early on, they would allow about 100 people to pick a name before retiring it. By the time I came in (late 2005) that number was up to 250-300. (The actual number was slightly variable because they changed the name list weekly I think, and pulled a name if it was over the threshold on name change day.) Somewhere in late 2006 when SL growth went exponential, they gave up the old system and started leaving names up for months regardless of how many people chose them. The most popular last name (other than the special case of GossipGirl) is Allen; over 100,000 avatars with that name exist. The rest of the top 10: Magic, Aeon, Oh, Andel, Beck, Writer, Hax, Barbosa, Voom. I think Oh is the one I've seen most often in-world; there seem to be quite a few active members of that clan.

GossipGirl was the only last name available at the RegAPI portal for Gossip Girl in Second Life, a project related to the television show. Huge numbers signed up for it during its run of nearly two years (currently over 163,000 avatars), but most just hung out at the Gossip Girl sims and didn't venture much into the rest of Second Life. I haven't seen a GossipGirl avatar in ages; I suspect that the few people who DID stay in SL created other avatars.

Virtual CSI:NY signed up even more avatars (nearly 200,000) but it had a long list of last names (all were unique to the CSI portal) so no one name has nearly so many. The most popular was Delight, with 9,361 currently in existence.

I have only met one other Marquez, despite the fact that it was a much smaller world back then. There was another who was a notorious texture thief but I never met her.

I knew Eddie Khan and Owen Khan we were friends from there.com. Owen sold his account to ACS, and Eddie got banned and has an alt. So as far as the Khans I knew and loved, they are gone.
