I'll just leave this here for AnneMarie O'Toole...

...since I understand that's a nice thing to do. Coordinates link to where it happened.

I don't think Annemarie O'Toole uses this forum.

I think enough of us know vaguely who AnneMarie O'Toole is that some more in-depth context would be appreciated.

But yes, the poster here is a different person, who's avatar was born before AnneMarie.

The creator of vehicle rezzers. Which has the effect on a sim you'd expect (rezzer + physical objects).

it helps to clearly explain the problem.... but I can guess... the border crossing duplication bug, or some script error is causing a pileup of zombie vehicles, (which AM is well known for) lagging the region to hell?

do what everyone else does (or should), report it as abuse =)

Pretty much. And I was going to do that, but I read the history and disputes here and it seems that the consensus on what to do is split, and given notice, it's possible to fix such bugs, if they are known.

So I figured I'd do it that way rather than having an ar party.

The flaw in your approach is that AnneMarie does not frequent this forum, so you're basically not dealing with anything now.

once upon a time I'd have been one of those counseling to report the problem to the responsible person directly....

but given the history (they've gone from nuisance to plague) I feel like there's been ample time to correct coding problems, and LL isn't going to do anything more than come to the region to wipe out the pileup, so it just seems more prudent at this point to get effective results.

AnnM does still hang out in the official forums (general) last I was there, but it would seem more prudent to post to her profile directly.

Yes, I take it as a challenge to shove them off the road. Unfortunately their recovery algorithm is too good and they get on it again.

The other day I encountered an ice cream truck with attendant jingle. How long until there are ones out there with more obnoxious and intrusive noises?

It doesn't actually rez to fire that bullet. Because nobody's sitting on it, it can unlink the bullet prim from a stockpile that it must be rezzing and linking when it passes through rez zones. (I tracked one down and got it to shoot at me a few times, and each time its primcount decremented.)

Despite their similar names and insanity, Ann O'Tootle is not AnneMarie O'Tootle.

Rookie mistake. Just pray Ann doesn't find you.

The trick is to shove it into a parcel with no object entry so it gets stuck in the border.

Last year I discovered this really loud jingle following me around my parcel, and I assumed someone was griefing me. I couldn't find the follower prim, but noticed there was an ice-cream truck on the road. I paged the owner, AnneMarie OToole, and she said that yes, she was rezzing a follower so people could hear them, because they didn't carry very far.

I explained why this was a problem, and how I'd almost reported her for griefing, and she was very nice and deleted everything and said it hadn't occurred to her that it was going to be seen as a problem. She said she'd re-do it so it just played music from the truck.

I haven't run into this since, so I assume she did. I kind of like her vehicles, and always ride one for a couple of sims when they show up. I'm sure that she'll be happy to put some kind of special case in the code to mitigate the problem if it's particularly bad crossing.

I live on a roadside parcel, so I see these firsthand.

I like the concept, I just find the vehicle designs very crude and in dire need of a graphical makeover.

The movement could also ditch physics and use keyframed motion, and getting stuck in parcels would become impossible.

I love the ice cream truck sound, it's cute when it goes by. I usually drop what I'm doing and chase it down. The model is lazy though.

My parcel is roadside on a sim edge though (November). If I shoved it into the ban line on the next-door parcel in the next sim I would get to deal with it until someone could be bothered to clean it up.

Oh well, maybe chase them around and get them at another sim crossing.

You're going to break her heart, do you know how long that bitchy graphic took to make?

It is not that I totally hate them, an occasional vehicle makes the sim look more lived in, just that I see them far to often and I know they are doing a hit to the sim performance each time. Vehicles used to be a rarity and were always being driven by someone.

These automatic vehicles used to be they would be every hour or so, and that was fine, but now they come practically every minute. They are more an annoyance than cute at this point because every time I am in the road some empty vehicle is going to start bumping into me.

It seems to me she is generating more badwill than garnering good PR so I have no idea why she persists.

I'm going to attempt communication with the AnnMarie sometime and see if conversion to keyframing is feasible. It would eliminate stuck vehicles, I don't know if it would reduce lag but I don't see why it wouldn't.

Bonus is they could be phantom.

Just go to one of the main routes on Linden Department of Public Works Roads - Second Life Wiki and you should find one sooner or later.

To make a physical link set over the regular limit you can simply add one line of code. This will work on nonmesh enabled viewers as well.

llSetLinkPrimitiveParamsFast(LINK_THIS, [PRIM_PHYSICS_SHAPE_TYPE, PRIM_PHYSICS_SHAPE_CONVEX]);

This will not change shape, however you may now have a car that is like 100 prims. Enjoy
