So one fun question that I know we had a thread over like a year ago. Do you look like your avatar? I know its hard to even remotely resemble sl's barbie ish figures, however does anyone share any resemblance to their avatar? I unfortunately am not a rubix cube in real life.

Have I mentioned yes? Yes. AS much as I possibly can. And I won't hesitate to tweak it to look more like me if I think something is off. My RL friends can pick out my SL avatar from a crowd with no prompting.

Seriously, I tried to make my avi look like me for the first few months, but the limitations of SL made themselves apparent and the options I had seen by then were intriguing so after looking into vampire, cat girl, and some other looks I ended up going with the 'Hellboy's sister' look that I have now.

My main avatar does look somewhat like myself - at least, like a 20something me with better clothes, less annoying hair, and an amazing ability to walk in high heels. Oh, and somewhat purple eyes.

I didn't consciously make her look like myself, I suppose I just naturally gravitate towards skin tones and hair colours that "look like me".

mine looks like me, silghtly enhanced ... as the boobie slider dosn't go into negative numbers I cant make an exact copy. *sigh*

I tend to dress younger then I am in RL too..

my daughter (18) was watching me on SL one day and she accused me of making Kirari look like her! ... i told her no, Kirari looks like I did when I was 20! ...

I could tell by the look on her face she did not believe i was *ever* 20.....

Well, I have dark brown hair and pale skin and both my parents had practically black hair and pale skin, so I guess the base aesthetic colour combination comes from there -- Sonya is almost always black-haired and as pale-skinned as I can get without going to vampire (anymore).

Her grey eyes are from old rp, though, but I doubt I would have given her my mix of green-grey otherwise either. Obviously the shape is nothing like mine, I went for fifties pin-up secretary look back in the day when I first created her. I am fully admitting playing pixel barbies with her.

As for how she dresses... guess that's what I'd wear if I had a body like hers and didn't live in the middle of snow half a year? With some dampeners for modesty (yes, even if I had that shape in RL) because SL fashion is always more daring than RL. What is modest and normal in SL would raise eyebrows in RL, there would need to be a transition filter. But still, how she dresses is definitely representing personal aesthetic values and preferences.

I like what Senban said about sense of self given form. I think that if I had to go for a nutshell, that would be it.

My oldest account is named for me, and looks a bit like me if I'd had my choice of eye colours, was 15 years or so younger, and was 100 pounds lighter [except since she's a lot taller, I guess that 100 pounds should be there anyways ]. She's also me when I colour my hair the colour it should have been - just ask my complexion, and had 9 fox tails >.>

Beth is not really me, not in looks - she's a little shorter, more slender and has cat and faery features [most of the time], and I'm more inclined to foxies for my own personal form expression. But somehow Beth got better known and started the shop, teaching and DJing [even when I tried splitting it up, that failed badly...all my dj gigs fell through on my dj alt].

Anyway TL;DR - not really - partially on purpose, partially because if I could, I'd shapechange on a whim in RL - but I can't.

And gender reassignment is too easy in SL.
I think SL really showed me what I look like on the inside.
Not gonna have the op in either world, though. One part of me is pretty faithfully replicated.

Not in the slightest, nor do I want to.

To me, participating in SL, where I can be anything I can imagine, and then making my avatar look just like the real me, is as interesting as going to the world's best amusement park, and instead of riding any of the famous rides, paying thrill-ride prices to be spending all my time sitting in an office cubicle on a folding metal chair.

I did try, once, to make an alt look "just like me". (Well, like me, but a little younger.) I couldn't stand playing as that alt, with that appearance.

Strangely enough, I have a biped leopard avatar that also bears as disturbing resemblance to me. I think it's the freckles.
