Sure is smelly around these parts...

[19:17] Kalel Venkman: Yeah, most people do, and fear is what they do.
[19:37] Zax Zero: the only reason i tried to be a greifer anyways was becuz mostly i was being picked on in schoo i think
[19:37] Kalel Venkman: I was too.
[19:38] Zax Zero: cuz i felt so frusterated with getting bullied
[19:38] Kalel Venkman: I can totally understand that.
[19:39] Kalel Venkman: I channeled my frustration in a different way. Nobody should have to go through what I and my friends went through.
[19:39] Zax Zero: what heppened to you i just got picked on for being white lol
[19:39] Kalel Venkman: Being a musician and artist is much better than being a bully.
[19:39] Kalel Venkman: I got picked on for being smart.
[19:40] Kalel Venkman: I don't mean answering the questions first smart, or teacher's pet smart.
[19:40] Kalel Venkman: I mean really strongly scary smart.
[19:40] Kalel Venkman: It freaked people out.
[19:41] Kalel Venkman: So I got a lot of abuse.
[19:41] Zax Zero: oh no
[19:41] Kalel Venkman: Though I remember one guy who really didn't like me cut in front of me in line at the cafeteria.
[19:41] Kalel Venkman: All of his friends were watching.
[19:42] Kalel Venkman: I got really frustrated, and in a loud voice, I said "Hey! You - you HUMANOID!"
[19:42] Kalel Venkman: The guy got all huffy and in my face and made me take it back.
[19:42] Kalel Venkman: His friends were all laughing at him.
[19:42] Kalel Venkman: And I said, "Okay, I take it back. You are NOT a humanoid."
[19:42] Kalel Venkman: And his friends all busted up laughing even louder, and he was extremely confused, and still mad.
[19:44] Kalel Venkman: See you later, Zax.

After this we started using humanoid as an in joke.

And this dude is old enough to be a dad

Back in the day of 1492, someone took mah lunch moonies! I was mad 50+ years later!

I don't think that's the point.

The only way I can see they can stay inside the letter, if not the spirit, of LL's ban on disclosure is to keep everything outside SL and look stuff up in their wiki using Chrome or Firefox or whatever, and discuss it in Skype.

Surely if I make a scripted device, which only works while you're in world, of course, that discloses people's alts to people who own the device, then I'm breaking terms of service. The only place it can disclose this information to anyone is in world, for heavens sake.

Whether or not it gets the information about alts or RL names and addresses from an external database or a notecard in the prim, or whether it discloses this information to you by using llInstantMessage or llShout(0,"Did you know that so-and-so's alt is .... and his address is ... and his white blood cell count is...?") seems neither here nor there.

They are then compounding the offence, doubtless, and also providing evidence of their wrongdoing, by discussing in-world the stuff it discloses, but even if they weren't I don't see their feeble subterfuges as altering the plain and simple fact that if you make a device that discloses, in SL, people's RL details, or use it, you're in breach of the ToS.

Yeah, most law-enforcement agencies are well used to people like the nameless blogger, with a bee in their bonnet about something, contacting them with vital information about their investigations. Nevertheless, they do usually manage not to get too badly side-tracked.

Also, that new meeting log Fred put up.

Nonetheless, is pretty pointless to continue discussion. LL doesn't care at all, the FBI's got better things to do, and None of the public seem to mind having their private info stored on a wiki anyone with half a braincell can look at.

Exactly. There are sheep that need fleeced and the shepherd's in a drunken stupor.

So how do we make a buck off these chumps?

I dunno. I agree it looks as if there's no smoking gun that's going to get them all banned and the JLU disbanded, but let's see what happens when LL announce these anti-griefer measures later in the month. I'm hoping that they'll reduce the perceived need for organisations like the JLU and -- I very much hope -- do something to curtail this sort of activity.

When all this started, I didn't know that much about the JLU -- I thought they seemed rather a creepy bunch of clowns, but that was about it -- but I've now come to regard them as a particularly nasty form of griefer; their griefing takes the form of harassing people with false ARs and attempts at RL intimidation rather than lolcubes and stuff. And being cowards, as most bullies are, they try do it hiding under the wing of LL rather than risk the consequences of their actions. Maybe I'm expecting too much of Rodvik, but I can't imagine he's any more impressed with them than are most fair-minded people, and I'm sure he doesn't see them as any sort of advertisement for his platform.

So let's give it, and the local police, of course, time, and see how things work out. I think they're going to go out with a whimper rather than a bang, myself, but I think the damage now is pretty much done, and out is where they are headed.

In the medium term, I think the Phantom Zone is -- or should be -- dead in the water. It can only be more than a local nuisance if it comes into widespread use, and if they try to give it people, word has gotten round, I think, that it might be prudent to ask a few questions and do a bit of research before accepting their generous offer. And when people do, there's the Brainiac Wiki for them to look at, and form their own conclusions.

And we DID have fun today. Though I had so much fun I may need to take a nap. It was even more fun because of some of the IM's I was getting while I was taking pictures. Explained within.

and meanwhile... if we are to be archived and catalogued, let us at least have flattering pictures in our Permanent Records! Here's the raw shots I took, in case you want to grab copies for your own usages.

You wanna know why this thread slowed right down recently?

Because it was made pretty clear that talk about anything else except JLU was not welcome here. Joshua made a new thread and everyone is following that now.

As I said before, derails mean people are still here. If you jump on people for talking because it's not what you want to see, they will leave.

I absolutely agree - but she's also the worst sort of troll. The one who is having no fun, is clearly wallowing in misery, and insisting that everyone be as misarable and mean-spirited as them in order to be taken seriously.

Truly the archeotypcial "dog in the manger."

Oh, well excuse me for not wanting to have Joshua and Cummere bitch at each other for the rest of the thread and distract from the issues. Excuse me for not wanting Prok spamming the thread with her insanity. Excuse me for wanting something to be done rather than a fucking circus.

If no one takes this shit seriously, nothing will be done. Since no one wants to take this seriously, I don't see the point of trying to sort through all this stupid JLU bullshit for you guys to discuss.

The people were here and they were getting involved when things came up. It wasn't being ignored.

But in between revelations people talk and it's not always on topic. When something comes up though everyone's attention is on it.

The only reason that Cummere now has my real name, fucknut, is because you decided to be a little child in posting an unredacted JLU article that had it in big bold letters.

Grow up.

It was short and I'm sure a copy and pasted response but.... I actually got a response.
I made sure to explain the situation and the actions we've taken with law enforcement then explained

God I couldn't even type I was so excited to get a response.. what I mean to say was I explained "I have no idea how they got my info and while not directly implicated the JLU has logged information on me and several others for years". That was my response after explaining the cases and that these guys left a huge trail that law enforcement is following.

I've had law enforcement involved. Not directly with the JLU but the people who harassed my family while pretending to be medical staff and giving death threats in SL to others. State and federal cases. I'm not the only one with a case against them.

I don't know if my info went to them from the JLU it's just worth mentioning that the reason plenty of people have had their real life info dropped from SL has been the jlu, so I brought it up when explaining things back to SL.
