Actually that's pretty close. If someone actually did it, it would involve Federal law since the communication would likely be interstate.

Federal statutes have roughly 5 years from the commission of a crime.** RICO laws might apply since it was a conspiracy to commit a crime. The normal start to the statute of limitations clock in a conspiracy is the last actual crime committed by a member of the conspiracy.

Anyone present at that meeting could be charged.

**iirc Nebula was a minor at the time? If so, that 5 years may not start counting until he turned 18. That is, if a threatening email was sent to him. If it were, even if GLE was acting on his own, the rest of them have left themselves vulnerable to Federal Prison time.

And yes they did send a letter to Nebula's dean claiming he was a cyber-terrorist. Nebula claimed that his dean looked serious until he actually read the letter then he started laughing and let him go.
