After all, you are giving the thing away for free, right? So if we can not see the code there must be some string attached. What is that string? That we can not see the code and have to trust that it does what you say is pretty telling!

On the other side of the coin, I think you'll be able to see that it would be undesirable for the owner of a security system to have bans they have chosen their system to implement be yanked out from under them by those very people they chose to set their policy to ban just because the owner is offline. That would go a long way toward negating the value of the system. We are providing the PZ system and service free of charge as a benefit to land owners and the community as a whole. If you own land and don't want to use it, don't. Anything else is between you and the owners of the land you choose to visit. Do you trust them to use a security system (or lack thereof) that is appropriate for their individual situation? If so, no sweat; let them worry about it. If not, why would you want to visit anyway? Honestly there is a maintenance cost to operating this system in terms of the JLU's time and energy (and perhaps money as well, but I don't have a great deal of visibility there). If few people need or want it but it gives them great benefit, we (or I, at least) would be quite happy. If no one needs or wants it, that would be a great sign in my opinion, and we could rejoice that built-in SL security tools had progressed to a wonderful degree and griefing was largely a worry of the past (trust me, nothing could make the JLU happier than for what we do security-wise in SL to become obsolete). If lots and lots of people want it, we'll do our best to provide the required service. So far we have seen a great deal of desire for such a system, and many folks seem happy about the design and feature set we are providing and continuing to develop. If people truly understand the system and don't want it, that's a good thing; if people don't want it because they need something to fill the hole and they have been misinformed about the PZ by others with malicious intent and/or a lack of understanding, that's very unfortunate.

| Hewee what about you manually adding people to a blacklist? Your whole griefer list is automatically added to a global banlist. I was on it originally for being a part of the Goatse Lantern Core, which was a harmless parody group that never did any form of griefing. And they are only giving Phantom Zone away for free because they are not allowed to sell it with that name. Quote:

| Hewee, after almost falling off my chair reading the sincerity in your response (and I do believe you are). I am just going to reinforce what others have said to you, get out now while you still can. If you truly think that you are making something that benefits the community as a whole and JLU is funding it for no gain to themselves, you are going to go down with it. |

My Mood: | Ugh, did I really make an account this morning and read almost half of this thing? Eh...I was going to say something, but it's already been said, by Huns some pages back. I've seen nutjobs in real life, people who did crazy things like believe that they were always right or the more asinine things, one such case in which someone felt that she was in "God's grace" and he was always on her side... So I can easily tell a self-deluded person when I see them sometimes. The core members of this group aren't covering up or pretending that they are right to the general populace. They also believe it themselves, deep down inside. They hold the self-asserted view that they are not wrong. In particular, Carter, Timtam, and Venkman, definitely appear to be diagnosed with this unsightly disorder. Eventually, in real life, they will either realize that they have wasted much of it on this, or they will die in self-delusion, thinking of themselves as heroes. What a disgrace to real heroes... |

| Well, well, well. A second JLU member has come forward with information regarding Braniac and the inner, corrupt workings of the JLU. It makes for an interesting read and doesn't exactly help them given what is coming out (not that I want to help them). ![]() * removed link * Last edited by Cristiano; 08-21-2011 at 11:36 AM. | Do I need to change credit card info, my phone number, or even move because of the JLU's insecure brainiac wiki keeping all this data on us? How terrible is this breach? I don't think Secondlife should wait before making a statement to people on how their data may be affected. After all Sony waited when they got hacked and look how bad that turned out. I didn't sign up for the JLU wiki like I did Sony. So why should they have any info on me? |
