You don't have to do that, at least not in a viewer that has Sione's media patch with the list editor included. In current Phoenix, it's Phoenix->Media Lists; in Firestorm and Snowstorm with Me/Avatar->Preferences->Sound and Media->Edit lists... . Then highlight the entry you want to remove and click Remove. You can also add entries with the Add button, and the same buttons can also be found under the whitelist.

Yeah sry, I haven't included the list editor in my viewer, so I deleted my misleading post above about direct xml manipulation.

It depends what viewer you are using.

Cool VL - Don't know but it is probably called Media Lists on a menu somewhere
Dolphin - Ditto
Phoenix - Phoenix->Media Lists
Snowstorm/Firestorm - Preferences->Sound and Media->Edit Lists

thanks tonya. over all Im loving this build of firestorm, a few things i see though that need fixed. think you could unhate me for a day so i could send you some screens in sl to show you what im seeing?

you know what? this entire kerfluffle makes me very glad that for years now, i keep ui noises and media streams off as a matter of course. not all that in love with hearing wind and footsteps, and other people's music interferes with my music that is already playing.

that said, for people for who listening to the parcels streams was a part of sl's charm, i hate this whole affair for you. hoping it doesn't impact your sl too much

The first thing I always did when reinstalling Second Life was to shut ambient noises the fuck off.

If only it also worked to mute the obnoxious water-fountain trickling thing that everyone on the grid seems to stick onto their parcels.
