My take: Yes he's probably upset, but not in the way you think. I'm thinking more of ego-driven N3RD-R4G3. Sociopaths don't generally have a lot of skill with introspection, it will all be everyone else's fault.

It hasn't been that long since the last summary, but another one is totally warranted.

• When we left the last summary, SLU and zFire's forum were abuzz with discussion of that leaked YouTube video.
• On the SLU side, people were cross-referencing it with other videos from zFire and Insanity Productions, finding remarkable similarities between the voices and faces of the people therein.
• On zFire's forum, the prevailing opinion was that of course the video was a fake, made by the anti-RedZone griefers to try to bring him down.
• The consensus here was that whether the video was real or not, zFire would have to be a complete idiot and/or a pathological liar to address it at all without consulting a lawyer.
• So of course he addressed it.
  • On his forum, zFire explained that of course the video was a fake.
  • He said that this new account, "mars006kgb", had nothing to do with him.
  • He said that he wouldn't need "mars006kgb", because he already had "insantiyproductions" and "marskgb006" and other YouTube accounts.
  • He outlined a vast Green-wing conspiracy, telling all manner of lies to try to bring RedZone down, with this shameless copycat account being just the latest example.
• There was just one teensy little catch: the "new" mars006kgb channel page was still cached on Google.
  • mars006kgb's account (the "fake" one) was created on April 4, 2008.
  • marskgb006's account (the "real" one) was created on April 8, 2008.
• For zFire's claim to make any sense, the anti-RedZone forces would have had to have made their account four days before he did.
• On SLU, at least, this is now conclusively settled. The only reasonable explanation is that he (or his team) made both accounts, the video is real, and he's been lying his ass off to everybody.
• On his own forum, zFire has explained that, well, clearly the only possible explanation is that the anti-RedZone forces found a way of hacking YouTube to change the signup date.
• Just to be absolutely clear for anybody who doesn't have a YouTube account... no, that can't actually be done.
• Incidentally, somewhere along the way there, zFire averred that "my server is the most secure server and database in all of Secondlife" and challenged people to try to hack it.
• Also, it turns out zFire is publicly listed as a member of an inworld group that presents itself as some sort of computer crime syndicate.
• Several highly empathetic members on this forum have expressed sincere concern for zFire's psychological wellbeing in the wake of all this.
  • The general consensus is that while zFire may be a bad person, a pathological liar, and/or an evil sack of shit with delusions of grandeur, he's still a human being and we don't want him to actually kill himself or anything.
  • Others have pointed out that pathological liars have the amazing ability not to let anything get to them, so that's not likely to be a problem.
• In other news, Quickware's website is now advertising services to help you get right back into Second Life, even if you've been hardware banned by LL.
• It's also offering the source code for its alt-detector to the highest bidder.

The only "why not" is that it's an automated system, and that's how it works. An upload is given a time stamp when it starts uploading. That time stamp is a permanent part of the upload. It cannot be changed.

Okay, so we have from YouTube itself. No zFire...someone didn't create that acct 4 days ago, and *change* the account date. No zFire, someone didn't upload those videos recently on the mars006kgb acct, and *change* the upload dates.

zFire? Do you realize how silly you sound when you then say, "Well, gee..They must have been after you along. They made their account before yours even..because they were such Greenies (Were you even operating RZ in 2008?) Did Greenies exist then?

You also sound a bit silly in stating that LL wouldn't find a bunch of folks mysteriously signing in from Seattle. Who says that YOU did it? Also? In that mars006kgb acct, you (or whomever betrayed you) posted a video from THIS NY's Eve at the Space Needle. Where was it that you live again? Oh yeah...Seattle.

Does that about cover it up until this point?

Well, the quickware site seems to trying to sell off the code for his scanner before the media patch goes through. Definitely not kosher, but then again not unexpected when someone writes code in deliberate violation of the ToS. I don't know what kind of proxy network he has available to deal with IP bans. The hardware ban would be handled easily enough by supplying a hacked copy of viewer 2, phoenix, or any other viewer and having the viewer mix into the reported hash a hash of the avatar name. So each avatar looks like it comes from a different computer. Simple, easy, in total violation of the ToS, but then again would you expect someone with a hardware ban to honor the ToS?

There are viewers that can spoof IP, and he certainly knows the IPs that are usually associated with these accounts, from scanning owners with their own RZ units, through to IPs associated with their accounts when they register and login to isellsl.

I expect whoever tested and accessed accounts as described in the video clip (if that indeed happened as claimed) would have used a viewer that spoofed an IP usually associated with the account by RedZone and isellsl.

But unless there is some kind of download associated with running RZ, wouldn't accessing account holders' MACs (to spoof) be implausible?

I've been pondering this myself. I wonder if the publicity about how many units he's sold and the profit he'd have made hasn't annoyed some silent partners, buddies or supporters who haven't gotten a piece of that? That theory doesn't discount this Mariana of course. Money is a motive for a lot of crazier things. Blackmail probably would have gotten whoever it was a bigger piece of that but perhaps by now they just wanted pay back.

Yes, I don't think he has any way to access that at all.

You are probably correct. He most definitely would not have used his normal ip address or mac address if he were signing in under someone else's account with stolen password.

I just caught up with the thread. Wow! Just wow!

zFire may not be the brightest bulb in the box, but his supporters and customers ... I fail to come up with an appropriate term. "Stupid" or "dumb" is too weak to describe it.

The irony is that RedZone is going to disappear but CDS will still be around. The same type of scam, the same type of lies. Unverifiable statistics about "caught copybotters" pulled out of thin air, and people still believe them.
