I dare this HUD maker to claim he's doing this to help his fellow residents, LOL, at that price. It's like they're just not even going to hide it anymore. It's SL's next big moneymaker. Make an alt detector, charge thousands of lindens, and hope to sell a few before it gets pulled. Unbelievable. This person may have the most impressive cojones I've ever seen--either that or they're so stupid they can't find their ass with both hands. Either way, impressive!

From my experience, it's not so much that they use it to gage community interest, as that they don't have enough staff to handle the flood of AR's they get on a daily basis, including many that are stupid and not actionable. When one user or one parcel attracts multiple reports, I think it just floats to the top of their priority list and gets handled before the rest.

If I was in their position, I would have a priority sort that downgrades reports from people who have submitted stupid ARs in the past, and upgrades ones from people who have submitted responsible ARs in the past. In effect a reputation system. That would be arguably better than an "AR lottery" where they randomly address reports due to lack of time to handle them all.
