RedZone and CDS were as much bought by content creators and random assholes who wanted to know who people's alt's were.

I'm a club owner, I do it for fun. Making sure I go out of biz in SL will not do a damn thing to LL's bottom line. The measely few thousand I get in tips is a drop in the bucket, LL could not give a shit. I've screamed into the wind for years, nobody has given a damn there. I have never used a device like RedZone, ever. I see them as protection rackets and have always said so.

I do what I do for the residents who enjoy the same kinds of things I do and want to do them with me. I do what I do for Caledon residents and other lovers of the Steamlands. I don't do it for LL and if I had another platform that was as good as SL for the kinds of fun I like to have in SL, I would be there right now.

If Caledon were ever to move, I'd be following it. Bottom line.

Somewhere up above I mentioned an impression I have along the same lines. There's a sort of Woodburyish / griefyish / immature_geek mindset that reaches into LL.
SL is a small place. People who are into some aspect of SL tend to know each other. The same goes for the tech-without-empathy scene.

I was waiting for this response and I am glad you've been involved. Have the others? You going out of business will not be the fault of anyone who no longer goes there because they have their music off; it will be the fault of LL. I stated I was not blaming you and why clubs need to get off their duffs and get involved instead of closing their eyes and having business as usual. The simple fact is that the music has died in SL. Whether you have Rz or not, nobody can safely listen to music with the Rz Hud out there. It's only a matter of time for clubs..and the entire grid really. I suggest you gather a coalition of your fellow club owners and do a bit of stronger protesting :-) Can you think of anything that would be more effective when enacted by a coalition of club owners?
And tell me what about my earlier post you diagree with besides that you see it as a personal attack on clubs which is rather short-sighted. It's time to forget about personal defence mechanisms and go into full protest mode. I'm not your enemy. Clubs are maintaining business as usual closing their eyes to what's going on solely for self-preservation. Bailing water from that boat won't save the ship. Get a coalition that has power en masse and use it. Otherwise, it's a matter of time.

At any rate, I don't even make much money at it. It's all shits and giggles and fun. But trying to make sure we don't have eyeballs is not going to fix the problem. The only thing that will fix the problem is LL growing some balls to deal with it. Nothing I say or do will make LL grow any balls. How do I know?

Not for nothing but for the past month Ive done *LITTLE ELSE* but deal with this issue, to the detriment of a hell of a lot of other things- including my SL businesses and my club. Most of the post Ive ever made on this forum have been about this issue. I've published four articles about it. I've put up signs, sent notecards. Everyone I can possibly tell knows that we have NEVER had a device like this on our sims and there has NEVER been one installed inside Gothika. Im already doing all I can here.

So... what are you doing other than telling us what we should be doing, and actively attempting to put people who were not part of this in any way AND have been fighting against it out of business?

OH PS? Youre wrong- our streams are public- anyone can listen to them via an external program if they want. They don't need SL to do it.

Nope. The greenzoners used their time machine and invisibility suits and went all the way back in time to 1999 or whenever and framed them to go to prison. Just so later on they would look bad over the redzone stuff in SL.

That is if the now legendary web of lies machine ever cranks back up over there to reassure the last few remaining brainwashed dipshits that there is nothing to fear.

I post my personal stream to my dj twitter feed before every set I do. The Gothika stream is also public. No one ever needs to turn on SL media to listen, ever.

I've already told you what I'm doing..and it's more than talk :-) (see original post) The problem is, nobody IN SL has the balls to put up or shut up. All they CAN do is talk. They are completely addicted. I've basically left SL, I've pulled my store, I've stopped feeding my pleasure cravings and buying new things or buying lindens, I've stopped going out..I've stopped logging in.
Perhaps screaming into the wind works better? Let the attack dogs out, it won't matter. LL has succeeded in wrecking their own grid and turning everyone against each other...feeding the paranoia. If it makes ya feel better to take your frustrations out on me, then by all means..:-)

I've dropped one of my regular hangouts for running Redzone. Since I don't run a venue, that's about all I can do on that front.

Demonic club seems to be one of the more persistent users of Redzone and it's always full, because people there do not have a clue. If they only knew LL were hanging their avatars and identities out to dry. (Everyone does not have the time to read forums. I was here a year before I knew they even existed. I would've appreciated some kind of IN-WORLD information stream/protest about bad goings on that I could've actually seen in-world. The awareness level in-world just isn't there for redzone. People still have no idea what it is when I ask them)

And no, DJs seeing the IP never has and never will be the same type of problem that Rz is for obvious reasons. The most obvious is lack of easy ability to correlate IP with a specific Avatar.

Others, like myself, can only avoid places that are using it, boycott if you will and do everything in our power to spread the word via notecard, groups and other forums.

I do appreciate your frustration, and you are right many are just not that concerned, not concerned enough to leave their business or SL in any case, some not even concerned enough to read up on it or stop using Red Zone.

Sometimes trying to affect change from within is just as powerful a statement as walking away though. Keeping their land to maintain their voice to reach people and provide a safe alternative for residents to enjoy themselves. We each have to measure and chose which and how much is right for us.

So you think it's easy for me then? You think it's "convenient" for me? If you only knew why it's not. So yes, it is a sacrifice. But going without for a what I hope is a short time in order to save the grid long-term is a worthy plan. Yes there are RL reasons why doing this is hard as hell for me, just as it may be for you. And it's more than about money. SL is my life. I don't want to see it die. You think I'm doing this because "I can?" LOL. Actually, I can't, but I am........and it hurts.
