I doubt it. Linden Lab is currently a very minor player and I don't see that changing any time soon. Even if LL magically woke up and realized all their problems it would take a considerable amount of time to fix everything. Even if LL fixed everything they could within a week (which is actually mostly possible) it would then take years for the fixes they made to spread and influence the community to allow the content to form which would become a draw for a broader, more profitable market for LL.

Are the companies spoken with by the President picked for digital innovation or is this purely about the short-term --- the next quarter's speculated worth of the company?

Just as I wonder what Mark & Obama could talk about, likewise I wonder what Rod & Obama could talk about.

Second Life might contain more long-term technological worth than Facebook. Could the above headline look silly in 5 years when Facebook is abandoned like MySpace was, and replaced with a Diaspora/SL hybrid?

Having been invited to sit down with President Obama for fifteen minutes to discuss Second Life, I've no idea what I would say. At least I've no idea what could be said that would relate to him any constructive use for the service in any context he'd likely be interested in pursuing.

And, there are so many truly important things I'd rather discuss with him. Second Life doesn't even rate in that context.

He would talk to Philip, Rod is just too new to Represent the company for that, but SL is just too small, I mean, you had guys from Google, Facebook etc, all of them have hundreds of millions of users, we only have a few millions
