If they keep scrounging up Lindens out of nowhere to "join" the team every time they fuck up or do something shady. They should be pure ex-Lindens pretty soon.

It's highly suspicious, both times they fucked up something major, within a day or two they have some big story about a Linden joining the team.

I'm starting to wonder if Qarl really did join the team, or what Data Linden being on support really means. I notice Qarl's blog has no mention of working on or Joining Emerald, and his avatar's profile has no Emerald groups and no mention of Emerald whatsoever. The only place so far as I can tell that gives any evidence that Qarl has joined their team is the Emerald blog itself.

I just know that I would not want to be at the meeting. They have put LL in an untenable position. They can not just outright ban the client because of how many innocent people it would directly affect. But they can not ignore this either or they had might as well admit that the TPV is a worthless scrap of paper. Then they are going to be even more pissed that they are having to take action over something as stupid and childish at this.

You know what? They *can* ban the client. There are lots of clients and there is only one SL - the SL where these people make their money and have their friends and sexxors and pretty pixels.

I'm already seeing signs that die-hard Emerald fans are starting to back away and think about alternatives, just from this ridiculous DDoS epeen war that Phox/Frac etc are having with Hazim etc.

All LL needs to do is instigate some reasonable change management, let people know that Emerald devs violated the law, and the TPV and most likely the TOS; and let the user base know about other clients because Emerald will be shutting down in 5...4...3...2...1..........

Ex-Linden Hamlet Au talked to him for his blog and he confirmed it there - New World Notes: Ex-Linden Lab Developer Karl Stiefvater Joins Development of Emerald, The Popular Third Party Second Life Viewer.

Also an interesting comment on his blog about this latest incident including a reference to SLUniverse at New World Notes: Emerald Developers Deny Using Software to Launch DDoS Attack on Rival Developer's Blog With "Silly Idea". What is most notable is that he says "However, I tend to think we'll be hearing more about this soon." which suggests to me that he may have had a chat with some of his contacts inside LL.

The Emerald team has posted a "fess up" blog. Asshats trying to pose it as "boasting" rather than denial of service attack. Frankly if they'll decide a DoS attack is a fun thing to do and a 2 paragraph apology makes everything better, only an idiot would use their viewer. And I used to like their viewer, too.

Katharine Berry made a post about this on her blog. If it was the site of a malicious viewer, as they claim it to be, there was a risk of the users adversely affected without knowing.

For example, if there were an exploit in the javascript engine of webkit (which snowglobe derivatives use to view html,) anyone logging into SL using emerald could have been exploited. Conversely, they could have been detected by referer and redirected to... unsavory sites that busted out of frames.

Now that's just funny.

Hazim, I am really sorry that the Modular Devs' attacked your site. I have also been a victim of emeralds' stupidity. My site was also attacked by emerald devs. The main person responsible was phox. I tried message jay about it and he said you deserved it.
I wonder how many sites other then mine and hazims that emerald has dosed on purpose without even letting their users know?

I love the onyx client and hate to see it go. I can copybot anything and get away with it. I did get banned once from sl but after mentioning to Linden Labs I used a client made by the emerald dev. I got back in. Copybot away.


Here are some more questions.
How come when emerald devs do something stupid, they blame jcool410? There many devs also teaming up with jcool on his stupidity and lying about it.
Do you really think that none of the other devs know nothing about emerald when the source code is placed right infront of them? Even modular's website code can be easily accessed by going to view->page source.

With LGG gone, being the only trustworthy person in Emerald is hard work. I'm sorry you've had to deal with their messes, you're way too good of a person to have to deal with their drama. With you gone, besides Qarl (and who knows what's going on there), there's really no one to trust in the Emerald team.
