I wonder what the "discipline" was for the "Dev" that was involved, high fives?
I can't believe they're still trying the game of: "Oh hai! We're just a bunch of high spirited, child geniuses who have everyone's best interest at heart really but these high jinks are just us having fun coz we don't get out much o.o and we've felt isolated since we were small. And Hazim was mean to us so we had a giggly time boasting about our numbers. It's all innocent fun *really*! No one understands me "

When is LL going to realise that a proportion of the controlling devs at MS are amoral? ok so LL probably already realises that, but when are they going to take any action?

The fact that MS could use their innocent and ignorant (as in: unaware of this attack) userbase in any sort of attack on another website, whether it was a DoS, a DDos, or "playful high spirits" is actionable imo.

I want them to stop abusing their users and treating them like numbers in a graph on a monthly blog boast. If they would stop pulling bullshit stunts like this and the EmKDU thing ON THEIR OWN USERS, yes, I would be fine with Emerald.

I actually used to hang out in Emerald Point quite a bit, and wanted to be an Emerald dev myself, but I didn't know it was as bad as this. I may be many things, but I am not a man who misleads or abuses his own userbase, and I absolutely won't tolerate it from a fellow software developer.
There's nothing particularly wrong with Emerald itself, yeah. It's the way it's being used by the people in control that's a problem. Like using it to enact a rough DDoS, or using it for privacy violations via EmKDU.

It was pretty hard to make out your lines in that, but I got the gist of it. Perhaps if they truly wished the discuss and educate about what "really" happened, they could have posted on the thread made about it on their forums, instead of deleting it? Or they could have explained it immediately when it was discovered, instead of waiting until the evidence and posts had built to a point where they couldn't be covered up or ignored.

She sounded completely pissed off there, yelling at you before you could even say anything about "Don't say it's a DDoS!", what else could it be? "Boasting about traffic"? With hidden 1x1 pixel iFrames and 30 links? That makes no sense.

Yeah, the Google cache of the login page with the DDoS was from August 9th, so it had started at least 11 days ago.

So who's gonna pay for that 0.8 TB of traffic?

You're making a mistake if you let this go unpunished.

Not amoral, but immoral. Phox is rotten to the core, Arabella not so much, and Jay is little more than a child so I hold out hope that phox's immorality will wear off of him much as it wore onto him.

Pfft, wasn't even a TB. Hazim, you just need to listen to the overly tense Aussie lady. It wasn't a DDoS. A DDoS would have been successful.

One day I want to show off how much traffic I get by barely inconveniencing someone else with it. It's all about the right attitude and dressing for success. That's right ladies, I can totally inconvenience your boys with my SL client. Their SSH sessions will totally stutter every so often. Oh no, no -- don't touch the jean jacket ladies, it'll burn you with how damn cool I am.... Yeaaaah, stick with me and I'll make you a star.

The thing is, even if I take the MS statement at face value, it still means that there's at least one person with a pathologically poor sense of judgment involved.

Right. When I'm feeling proud of an accomplishment, the first thing that comes to mind is how to play dirty tricks on my enemies.

Cuz, ya know, it's all about the pride.

I cannot even caps rage at this point. Sorry but emerald did do some sort of attack on hazim. People don't just start attacking people with their log in screens out of randomness. Hazim wouldn't do it himself, if he did his website would have been down. J and phox or who ever else wanted to just poke him as a practical joke probably. Still I would never trust a viewer who has devs so irresponsible. I don't care what features emerald has in it at this point it seems about as smart as cutting off your genitals to use it at this point. How many TPV and TOS violations are we up to. Also anyone want the ONYX bot source code to see where it violates TPV as well. I has it.

Well, I get "unlimited" bandwith, so I should be fine as far as overage fees go, but I'll be letting my host know just so wonder where all the traffic came from. I'm not really interested fighting some stupid legal battle based on Internet business; In between work and my projects I hardly have enough time as it is.

However, like I said, I will likely contact with their ISP about the site being used to orchestrate DDoS attacks on specific servers, because I know this has happened to other people before.

Yeah, to be honest, 1TB spread over a week isn't shit compared to most decent DDoS attacks (against a server, anyways, would have been fairly bad against a standard pc.) That being said, it wasn't at all benign, being around 6500 times my usual amount of traffic.

A bunch of script kiddos running loic could do better, that is the funny thing. No what is really wrong here is there is tons of evidence piling up how emerald treats people like shit for their own gain. That is something that cannot go on.

I used to assist on a certain irc hub of note roughly ten years back. It was always fun to wake up and see someone switched your coffee with Foldger's 5GB/sec and you have to call upstream and hope to christ you can get some of it filtered.

Meanwhile: Emerald team produces yet another former Linden in the face of bad news. I'm wondering just how many they have in frozen carbonite waiting for when Ph0x's heavy flow days results in more bad PR.

So does this "low" 0.8 tb over a week mean there aren't as many Emerald users as MS says? Anyone do the math on how many logons that was over the week?

Add to OP conspiracy theory: LGG is Qarl
