| It's pretty much what Spike Linden told me, in response to a ticket I put in last year, asking if I would be breaking ToS by installing one (I wasn't going to but wanted to see what the reply was): Quote:

| There must be something they can do surely. I mean the system is abusing their customers and he is also using the grid to do it. It might be stored and accessed on an external server, but the viewer, sim and LSL are being used to do the capturing. |

I know for a fact that his system purports to identify an alt of mine. Any suggestions what my AR should say? Or shall I take it up with Live Chat?

| Why don't fuckin LL secure the platform they are providing? How hard can it be? Granted I don't know shit from shinolla about encrypted hashes and whatnot, nor about the fine details of open source. But why cant LL get together with trusted tpv providers and have some super secret masonic type encrypted handshake between the viewer and the sever that is proprietary? |

| Like I said, I don't know shit about the higher workings of encryption. But how would a proxy have an effect between what the viewer and server say to each other before connection? ETA: Nothing is gonna stop a determined copybotter with screen capture and the like |

I really didn't want to have to release a patch because of this and the fact that it is a TOS issue and once the viewer is secured the TOS issue will go ignored by LL. I held off all week waiting for LL to at least say something. A brief post hidden in a sea of JIRA comments was not really good enough. I just hope now that LL fixes Snowstorm because I want to actually see mesh

| It doesn't matter how secure the connection is, all content has got to be decoded on your own machine so the viewer can actually render it. If it can be rendered, it can be copied. If it can't be rendered... well, your Second Life experience may disappoint. |

| I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be looking at. It seems he's banned some of the anonymouse proxies people are using when posting links here, so I had to use another proxy to visit the site... but I just found the same old train wreck. |

Business: Samantha's Shirts Client: Cool VL Viewer 1.26.8 | Looks like zFire finally got around to banning Anonymouse from accessing his forum. Pity there aren't hundreds of other proxies out there... ...oh, wait.

Sorry but I dont see much fixed here even if it was a good attempt. I mean a stream i regularly list to is http://uplink.duplexfx.com:8064/ which is a legit radio, not exactly user friendly. Sure they have a choice but a lot will just switch it off as they wont make head or tail of it

It is suppose to pop up when it doesn't know a domain, thats how it works. It can't think for you and we don't really need yet another database. There is an option under "Audio & Video" in preferences to turn it off. It's the best we can do, any other solution requires LL and TOS enforcement. EDIT: I don't know if you have actually tried using it or not, but if you have a url you know is legit and use all the time you just click whitelist and it will never pop up for that url again.
