1. Logging in. 2. Teleporting in to a store. And in the second case, I don't think I've ever been hit by more than three. However when flying across the grid, I'll enter 20 or 30 parcels per minute, AND I'm in a situation where losing access to the UI for even a few seconds can crash me out. If you're worried about it, put a "cancel-equivalent" button (deny) where the cancel button is on other dialogs, and put the buttons that have a real effect on a separate row where they won't be confused with cancel. This "don't use model dialogs for frequent events" note is not a whim of mine, it's one of those things that pretty much every user interface guideline in the world has. It's one of those things that'll get you lampooned in "UI hall of shame" sites.

OHAI guys- if anyone wants a laugh, Zfire is lying is ass off in Commerce Chat right now. It's really entertaining. Highlights! -He's claiming that alt matching isn't solely done by IP. -He's got one lone supporter that I can see who is still waving that bullshit copybot protection flag. [12:07] Adams Scarmon: the statistics point out that it does ban copybotters *weeping with laughter* Last edited by bronxelf; 02-17-2011 at 02:09 PM.

S'ok- Ive got it in an open window. I've got the quote: This is from when I walked in- I dropped busy mode and this is the first thing I saw today: 11:57] zFire Xue: I mean, if that is the case, why do people say it IS the case? [11:57] Phil Deakins: it's very easy to say this av is an alt of that av without having to prove it. very easy indeed. that's what RZ relies on. it's a con [11:57] Sassy Romano: it cannot guarantee not to pick up false positives where the IP address is shared can it? if so how? [11:58] Sweet Valentine: Nick i did not know about it as i do not get out often [11:58] zFire Xue: Phil=fail [11:58] Sweet Valentine: now i know and its hurting my customers i will speak up i will be loud and i will make sure they are protected [11:58] zFire Xue: Read the Alt metrics... more than just IP is used. [11:58] Rin Tae: it might be because it needed some time for enough innocent peopel to be banend to reach the blogs .. and then the uproar startet .. and since it seems to ban a lot of innocent people I guess there is a problem [11:58] Phil Deakins: sorry, chum. you're the failure inasmuch as you claim something that can't be done. [11:58] Adams Scarmon: Well, so things only become an issue when you KNOW about them? Even whent hey have been around for a long time and didnt harm anyone but copybotters? [11:58] Adams Scarmon: that sounds a bit weird to me. [11:58] Phil Deakins: it's simply not possible for your program to do it. [11:58] Sweet Valentine: it will not be here much longer that i have faith in [11:59] zFire Xue: Sure Phil.. I guess everyone is wrong but just you are correct. [11:59] Phil Deakins: you even explain how you do it - a method that it isn'ty possible to do it with. it's pure con [11:59] zFire Xue: I will not intrude on faith Sweet. [11:59] Ramses Meredith: hello - smirks [11:59] Sassy Romano: alt metrics, reference please [11:59] Sharayah Munro: so many people believe the snake oil salesman [11:59] Adams Scarmon: Well IF it gets removed, all those people against it should never ever complain about coppybotters agian. [11:59] zFire Xue: Phil, impossible method? Where is that writen? [11:59] Sweet Valentine: it is word of moutth and the crowd is getting awfully lour Fire [11:59] Phil Deakins: no, zFire. I'm just one small voice in this crowd here, telling you that your program cannot do what it claims to do. [11:59] Sweet Valentine: loud even [12:00] Adams Scarmon: aye, RZ may not be perfect.. but at least it does SOMETHING.. and with a little tweaking it can be optimalized. [12:00] zFire Xue: Thank you Sweet, you are right. [12:00] Master Source: it's quite nonsense that people should never complain about copybots. Items can be compied "from"other people that are not banned in a store. I do not really get why people all think its only possible to copybot in the real store [12:00] Sweet Valentine: the thing about SL residents is when we feel strong about an issue a major issue we band together and make our voice heard [12:00] Adams Scarmon: If GZ would put their time and effort in something that actually compets with RZ and bans copybotters only... that would have been productive [12:01] Sharayah Munro: copybotters aren't dumb. Lazy yes [12:01] zFire Xue: Master, that is why RZ is portable and in non-store locations as well. [12:01] Phil Deakins: from what I've read, your method is IP addresses. it's not possible to do what you claim from IP addresses [12:01] zFire Xue: Phil, and I am telling you that you are the ONLY one so far to say that it does not link alts names. [12:01] Phil Deakins: oh it does something, Adams. it affects many people who it shouldn't even pick up - because it's method is flawed. and it makes users of it think they are safe from copybotting when they are not. it certainly does something [12:01] zFire Xue: Smart copybots create on their own mostly.. and don't copybot for the risk of a ban. [12:01] Sweet Valentine: its been done before [12:02] Pauline Darkfury: Many products can't be copybotted in-store anyway, since the store only shows vendor textures [12:02] Phil Deakins: no I'm not. people here have said it in this conversation. [12:02] Adams Scarmon: At the end of the day, you have to ask yourself the question.. whats more important? My privacy or the protection of my content. [12:02] zFire Xue: Phil, correct, IP addresses alone would not work.

That Adams (Nick) is still typing away now. He is just completely clueless about how copybotting works, how copybot viewers can disguise themselves as perfectly legitimate viewers, etc. I find it somewhat ironic that he thinks he should have access to everybody's alt information given how he's completely locked down his (web) profile so that nobody but his friends can access it. We shouldn't know anything whatsoever about him apparently, never mind his alts. I wonder what he creates to justify so much paranoia.

see-oh-neh
The only copybot viewers that heap of shit is going to detect are the leftovers from the time when they were showing off their badges in the epeen wars. Most of which were distributed as binaries and are banned now. On top of that, media still needs to be turned on. So to get caught you would have to be the biggest of noobs.

Does he actually sell anything? I just logged in with Hippo Viewer so I could see his profile (as I said, he's completely locked everybody using Viewer 2 out of his profile), and I see no evidence of a store in his profile or picks. I can't find him on the Marketplace either.

I suppose it was wrong of me to home in on him here really. I was just stunned by some of the things he was saying, but I guess that's the ideal target market for snake oil salesmen. I admire your patience in trying to educate people in that chat by the way, however futile your words seemed in some cases.
