Looks like that is a hoster he found that allows servers on dynamic IP's. All kind of domain names on this IP, and they change.

If that's the new approach Mike, you missed the subject. The question was how to escape the block by that evil hosts file. Now think again, go back to your homework before it is too late. You already failed when it came to "encryption". You may have to repeat the class.

Nope. I think he's OK there; the ToS says

Doesn't say anything about you have to use the Risk API to sell them, I don't think.

The IP is owned by the burst.net/nocster.com hosting provider. I know isellsl.com pointed at the same actual IP when it got registered, but redirected to isellsl.ath.cx.

EDIT: It might actually be that hosting24.com is simply a subsidiary of burst.net, so nothing might have changed yet.

EDIT EDIT: The route is owned by burst.net. The IP still probably points to hosting24 just as when it got registered.

So this may just be some fallback to default DNS after he got kicked from hosting24. And the ath.cx needs a manual update (or deletes after 30(?) days automatically). That would confirm what Amber wrote earlier.

Ninja....it is weird

isellsl.ath.cx is currently pointing at his home server at comcast. ath.cx is simply a dyndns address obtainable at dyndns.org. Heck, there are home routers that can automatically point a dyndns address at their ip on internet connect. isellsl.ath.cx was his first RZ url, actually.

Oh sorry, right, that changed again hahaha....
My new guess then is he got too many requests for the 300$ "beat the casino" DVD and he could not handle that on his 6000$ server, given the wind storms

If you put it in the hosts file it knocks Mikey out completely.

The IP & DNS adjustments are already hurting his Google ranking. For days this thread was stuck in third place behind the links for zF Redzone the system, and zF Redzone the forum. The forum has now bombed to fifth place and this thread is in second place.

Even though the thought borders on constantly bitching ... I wonder if those stores that took down their devices really have learnt a lesson for good in "thou shalt not spy on your customers" or if you'll see their names again as the next big "huzzah, it kills copybot, oops, it also does data harvesting on your customers, but never mind that" tool is released. Considering that you've seen several names which also popped up as CDS users, I don't have too much hope.

But I'm willing to bet that there'll be follow-up spy tool projects as you can't stop them from trying ... umm, just like the ripper issue itself.

Suddenly, the "don't go shopping at all" thought becomes appealing once more.

Then it means his IP shuffling has knocked out his 6000$ server for some hours, and his scanners are down again too, together with the VIP girls

Here is an update on GreenZone and their own database/list from Inara's blog. Thanks for the follow up!
Quote:
Concerns have been raised that GreenZone may itself be compiling a database of its own (see comments below). While initially cynical of this – the conclusion seemed drawn on the misunderstanding of an IM exchange posted on SLU in which the term “list” is used; I have nevertheless contacted GreenZone’s creator, Fart Admiral to request clarification.

Fart has confirmed that, indeed, a static list is maintained of all locations running RedZone. Essentially, the GreenZone HUD scans for RZ objects and if it identifies one, the location of the object is recorded, together with the Ownerkey and sent out to the GreenZone server. Separately to this, the GreenZone HUD triggers an alarm.

Fart assures me that absolutely no information relating to the GreenZone user is transmitted or stored.

Obviously, even what is transmitted may be objectionable, and could be construed as putting GreenZone into the same basket as RedZone. That is not my call to make publicly, but rather for anyone reading this article and considering GreenZone to weigh for themselves before making their decision.

I think the list referred to was the list of parcels using RZ and not a list of names similar to RZ. I.e if you don't unban me your parcel is going back on the list for everyone using GZ to see. But still I wouldn't trust it after seeing those posts here.
