He is passing all details via visible parameters to the one php script. If he only used the media stream to pass say the MD5 value of the time of day and parcel name he could send the rest of the info from the RZ object itself and compare MD5 values to link the ip address to the avatar.

Anyway I am going to shut up now I don't want to give him ideas.

I have seen allegations that voice IM is peer-peer, or includes peer-peer messages in the setup. I haven't actually studied the protocol, but don't see the benefits worth the risk.

Yeah, the voice streams go through the vivox servers. You can also find screenshots of the SL vivox admin panel that allows you to listen in to all sorts of voice streams, locations and IPs. The screenshots were not made by LL. Actually, links to some of those have been dropped in this very thread.

I stand corrected, re: Voice! Just as well that I never use it.

(I tried it once, when it was in beta, which was enough to convince me that [a] the technology itself was pretty cool, and [b] it would radically alter my SL experience in ways I didn't like.)
