Mostly. If you deny it once, it has the same effect as "blacklist" until you log out. Requests to view that URL/be scanned will be silently denied until the next time you log in. (You can, of course, relog immediately afterward, but that would probably get old fast.)

I think you can reset this by hitting the "Reset filters" button in the Preferences, but that will also wipe your blacklist and whitelist.

(Those lists reside in medialist.xml in the same directory as your chatlogs; theoretically, you could back them up, hit "Reset filters," and then restore 'em. I have not tried this.)

I think he's inflating a few numbers, lol. Last week or so? He showed around 2600 copybots found. Now it's over 6k? Hmm...How long has this system been around? Since 2009? In all of that time it found 2600, and all of a sudden in the last week or 2 it has found that amount again?

I haven't used the Cool VL version but I have seen a video on youtube about it. My original version would say in the local chat when a blacklisted domain has been blocked. I believe Henri changed that to a brief popup similar to the one you see when someone on your friends list comes online. Personally I prefer the chat version because it is persistant and I might not be looking at the screen when the popup appears, but I think he changed it for RP reasons.

So basically blacklisting is fine if you will always be looking at the screen. If not just click deny and you will get the full alert next time.

I had that doubt so i wasn“t blacklisting anything lol, i usually have my media and video on stop, it“s easier not to mix those with the warning, cause you can see clearly the media and video ones, only show as soon as you press play.
Did a tour of the major 4/5 skin makers was suprised to find one of my favorites had the url that could be CDS , all others seemed quite clean tho. I“m still waiting to find who placed it at Skin Fair tho, anyone contacted the organizers?

Every single senario they have is based on wantint to deceive someone about who they are, what they are doing, or to cover some illicit actity. Dont agree? The right to protect my merchants intellectual property? The right to know who the griefers are and to eject not only them but the main character standing there watching the fun? The right to keep minors and age players off my sim? The right not to have my guests bullied and tormented by griefers and stalkers?

Your right to privacy doesnt trump my right to security in my own house, in fact in MY house you have no rights -you are a guest. Of course they claim to have these rights, the right to do whatever they please to who ever they please.. ToS now supports them... I can get in trouble if you tell me your alt is Bob and you are going to go after the girl who you have nearly driven from the game in fear and flustration.. I tell her and I can be ejected from SL for a ToS violation?

This is about security, not privacy. That is how it needs to be framed. They dont have the right to hide what they are doing at your expense"

This guy is really pissing me off. I went to his store last year when I was participating in Styling Forward, and in 2 episodes I used his skins and gave him credit for that on my Flickr photos. Which I of course have deleted now. Grrr!!!!

It's a bad argument (on his part). It's about privacy, period. In some instances privacy may involve deceit; but privacy does not equal deceit, as he is trying to claim.

Eta: it's also about consent, which he fails to address.

I can understand several posts coming in under the wire while you're typing, or even not making it to the bottom of the page when replying to something on the latest one, but we've got one person replying to things from twelve pages ago, and another replying to posts from five pages back. Neither is taking into account posts that they'll be getting to any minute now that, if read, would cause them either to not bother posting or to post something somewhat different and/or more immediately relevant...

Granted, it helps with Cris's page views.

You know, I'll ask it. Even if it were, who cares? Even if every single GZer is a goat diddler and doesn't want that to be found out by people using RZ, why the hell is that wrong? Is he going to tell me he doesn't have a single thing in his life he wants to kept secret or just between select people? Cheating on your furry goat SL partner may not be a moral action, but it's legal and within the ToS.

He's right--I have very few rights in his house, and he's welcome to ban or eject me from that house. He doesn't have the right, however, to spy on me or share anything he finds out with all his friends.

I have half a mind to slap him with a fish. A fish, I say.

All of his example are about someone doing something "bad," which is another flaw in reasoning.

I mean, what about the store owner who tests permissions on products with an alt, or who wants to build in an alt now and then to not be distracted. Or, the CEO of LL who maybe wants to wander around SL and get a taste of the culture first-hand without having "LL CEO" over their head.

And this really comes down to the crux of the mentality of people buying RedZone, which I said all along a thousand posts back. It's not about protecting people from copybot, it's about people deciding they have the moral authority to dictate that what someone else does is wrong and it should be outed.

Look, I have low tolerance for lying. I think people who cheat are awful. I have no interest in people who "diddle goats" or child avatars or anything like that.

It has not an iota of fuck to do with me, however.

To make the assumption that because I run a sim and because someone teleported there I have the right to snoop around in their private lives and out the behaviour of something I personally dislike is nevertheless the height of audacity.

If someone is cheating on their partner the only people involved are those in the relationship. If someone is fucking goats, it has nothing to do with me.

What is Dark Alley, after all? It sounds like some sort of adult-themed place, to me. Isn't it funny that the people throwing tantrums around morality are usually the ones with the most shit on their shoes.
