This has been discussed to death a year ago with the CDS/Onyx/Emerald Saga. zF is just a copycat who jumped on the same train and somehow this one did not derail completely. Some idiots who did not get the message earlier still follow it. It's in my opinion not worth any more discussion and should be ignored and left to die silently.

Recently I mentioned withdrawing from a certain fundraising fair having found out they intended to use CDS. I've also backed out of participation with various other events/collective builds for the same reasons. Not because I didn't want to be scanned (i'm sure i have been already, by BOTH CDS and redzone) but because I really dislike what their use implies on principle.

Someone piped up to say 'wow, people still use CDS?' Which is to describe a significant part of SL, considering most people don't bother to educate themselves about what any such 'service' implies. Sadly though, even though there HAS been so much discussion about these systems in the past, many people tend to try and justify their use out of some misplaced paranoia. And then there are the ones who are DELIBERATELY using these to suss out alts, which makes their business all the more reprehensible.

Closing our eyes, ears & mouths (then hoping this stuff will go away) is a bit naive.

Perhaps, I only realized it is not worth the time to argue with idiots and their followers. And by doing so you only make a case for the idiots, to find more followers. In the long run best to ignore, like any other trolls, goons & alike.

Speaking strictly for myself, I have no intentions to argue with them, I just wish to be left alone and keep as much distance between myself and their drama. So the only way to opt out, is to opt in. At least that'll conveniently kick me out of any environment that's running their system. If it works right, that is.

Educate them, that's the best you can do.
Put up signs informing your visitors to keep media off unless they really trust a place, disable cookies etc. and give out a notecard with the links to the Greenzone page and/or the HUD itself and the "What is RedZone" and how to blacklist it on your machine post.

There's a positive aspect:
Removing items from stores that spy on their customers greatly helps in cutting down on your inventory size.

Its all bull crap and doesn't work I hand out free open source versions of a similar system I made, to those who want to know how it works. Though mine stores locally to the sim and no one, not even me or the sim owner can see any information. If you are going to make one of these stupid systems just do a list for all malicious client ids and scan, but no need to publish ips or link alts. I mean if you link alts or there is a false positive you shouldn't publish it. Hell allow the sim owner to work it out with the person. Having to appeal to skills of zfire about their shitty systems would be like pulling teeth. And for that matter Client detection can easily be bypassed or just fail by turning off media in most cases. In other words its all crappy shit and people shouldn't pay for it if they even want to use that bull crap.

I also went inworld and tried to ask the same of the Gemini CDS. Sadly, there seems to be no forum or website to contact the creators, so I tried the inworld group. Needless to say that, except for getting called names, I didn't get very far. The only way to get listed by them is to use one of the "bad" viewers, and enable parcel media, and go to a place that uses it. I'm still contemplating that.
