Do I recall correctly that English is not your native language? It isn't mine either. So that I am not completely giving myself away I'm just going to say that my native language was never spoken outside of the North American continent until... oooh... less than 200 years ago roughly.

Anway... I was trying to see if there was some angle that could be used in relation to the LL disclaimer and those of us who do not use or have Facebook and/or Twitter in regards to the current issue. After having given it some more thought I've concluded that I was on the wrong track with the idea I had. I'm still going to think about it some more and do some poking around just in the off chance there may be something to it.

Either way is unaceptable and had to be done by someone in the land group, either an organizer or a store owner.

And yes, it may well just be that they just put it in today. Sounds like they DID use a different name for the object. It might also be that the lag is slowing down the scan?

A "wall" in Facebook is a person's web page. They thought they were being clever and hip making up another name for it.

zFire collects the data and associates it. zFire shares the information. I doubt many people understand it is zfire sharing the data.

What LL could do is establish a do not track opt out system and add it to the preferences. People who opt out cannot have their data shared. Anyone that does, by whatever means, would have to be summarily terminated from SL. This would apply to legacy data already collected as the system operators would have to script to query every avatar for their opt out status before allowing the data to be transmitted. Optionally they could delete the data since the opt out has been taken.

This would apply to all data scraping systems. No data scraping when account has opted out. Should we make this into a jira feature request?

Here's a thought... how much did zFire claim he made off of RedZone? $350,000 or so?

Also, what's the tax bracket for an income of $350,000? Quite a bit, isn't it?

I hope zFire didn't spend it all in one place.

He´s in the RedZone database as a copibutter and grieffer his name was added manually to it.

I was there yesterday and could barely move, and my rz went off about 20 minutes in. They also could have had it set to scan a 95M which is supposed to make it undetectable

Maybe it was the lag. I just know GZ never picked anything up. It took me 30 minutes to even load all the textures there though.

You mean their feed? Their page is their profile and profile tabs, one of which is called a 'feed' or 'wall' depending on who you talk to. (I use FB but just for chatting with people. I block every app that shows up in my feed, don't use any apps, don't follow any 'likes', and pretty much ignore ads.)

If Ann just means LL has a page for SL in FB. That's fine. It's the changes they're making in SL to suite Facebook that I'm concerned about, not what they're doing inside FB itself.

Oh, it's definitely intentional. What Facebook has that LL wants are all those players who are addicted to Zynga games to give SL a try as that's how they got started in the first place. Zynga is the maker of such games as Farmville, Vampire Wars, Cafe World, YoVille, and others where the premise is similar - create a virtual character, team it with other virtual characters, click on a task, score points, build your wardrobe/defense/ or environment. You can play for free but if you want 'extras' to get ahead you can pay $$ for them - and they do. What does that sound like to you? I can see where the board is just licking their chops over these potential SLers, but they have to get over the negative publicity privacy hurdle here because most FB/Zynga money players are accustomed to privacy risks.

Yes, I know what they want, but if the recent changes in SL are intended to make that more likely they're doing it completely wrong. They're not making SL any more attractive as a FB game by putting FB tags and links in SL profiles, and they don't need to expose personal information in SL to make it happen either. I don't see a viable game plan in what they've been doing.

Most FB fans started with posting real information because that's how they find one another, and are rather hostile toward people who create fake or alt accounts because it's considered cheating on their games. So far SLers who created accounts for their avatars are sliding through with their own sub-communities, but the majority of FB users will not hesitate to report accounts they believe to be fake and get them banned. This is a direct contrast to the privilege of anonymity SL offers. Thus a balance has to be attained between those who want total privacy versus those who believe arguing with their SO or parents in a public forum is just daily life on the Web.

There didn't seem anything untoward about the only media stream Cool VL picked up when I had a wander round most of the Skin Fair. The only stream it picked up turned out to be, after I turned on the Admin menu and checked out the url with winamp, a normal music station.

This has me wondering whether the Fair is using zFire's global ban list of people zFire thinks are known copybotters (maybe in conjunction with individual stores' ban lists, however compiled) rather than actually snooping ISPs and trying to match alts; that is, detect your uuid on arrival and send it off to zFire's server to check if it's on his list rather than also try to detect your ISP.

That might explain why in this instance it's so hard to detect -- it's being used as a sort of security orb rather than an ISP-sniffer, so there's no probes nor suspicious activity with parcel media to detect.
