Ever try to leech an LL stream? You can't unless it is public. They already have some means of securing a stream to a region or set of regions and tied to only being streamed to the SL client. I have no idea how it is done or if it is some leased service or something. Might be related to vivox, etc.

But I know it is possible.

Hmm you've reminded me about Realnetworks Helix system, which can mask user IP addresses, but as I recall when they were trying to sell it to me at work, it wasn't cheap and I'm not sure how flexible it would be.

Might be potential for LL to strike some deals with Radio stations though. Sorry, i'm going off on a tangent!

Here's some food for thought as I try to catch up with all the pages since last night.

People seem to be wondering who it really is that is doing the griefing. I believe I have the answer. It's the same groups of people that always start griefing one side or the other and even both sides every time a controversy such as this one comes up. These people are in it for the kneejerk reactions. One of the "groups" is the so called Patriotic Nigras. Another is a bunch from the King Goon forum.

How do I know this? Well... after googling certain terms such as "zf redzone" and looking at some of the links, even following one to the King Goon forum, I wasn't really surprised at not being able to see any of the actual posts but there is more than enough of some of them in the descriptions you see in the search results to condemn them as being part of the griefing that is going on. If you look at the forum you will notice that there is only one catagory showing any activity.

Many of us already know about the Patriotic Nigras. However, to even entertain the idea that they are no longer active on the grid is contrary to the actual situation.

The people who are being griefed are blaming the "other side" for it when in reality most of the griefing being done is by people who have no real interest in the issue and are just out to stir the pot. They use such issues as an excuse to grief knowing full well the blame will fall on one side of the issue.

Think about it.

The words King Goon popped up in relation to that guy who kept pissing around with the JIRA a few weeks ago. The guy whom LL had given elevated JIRA priveleges.

Very astute observation, comrade.

I'll only add to this that it's a similarly common tactic for anonymous accounts to join discussions discussing the discussions of griefing groups when they, in fact, are a part of those groups and said discussion discussions are, in fact, just another facet of the griefing. They provide calm, nuanced opinions in what is simply an effort to generate a conversation which the griefers can then capitalise upon.

3. Their use of a tool that -- as is explained in massive detail on the sales page for the product -- would have only been purchased by people looking to link accounts without the permission of the account holder

I am honestly unable to shed tears on their behalf.

zFire is an asshole for selling this (and a liar), but people who bought the system hoping that it would let them link up alts so they could check out who their SL boyfriend/girlfriend really was, what alts their SL friends use for BDSM or furry sex, and whatever else are assholes too.

Come on. The sales page for the tool was incendiary even when it was on SLX. No one could have been suckered into purchasing it innocently. Even its claim of preventing "griefing" was specious -- its primary function and its primary sales pitch was to link alts.

If people are now upset that their drive to link alts of strangers and friends without their permission has upset others, tough tits. It was fine when you were doing it, take your own medicine.
This post deserves an award... "Bitter Medicine/Just Desserts"

Good thing that is not the case isn't it. Please note my join date.

I'm not exactly incognito for those who knew me under my original account. Psyke is one of them as well as Argent. No you won't find my original account profile in SL as it has been in "limbo" since about 2006-2007 although I have been entertaining the idea of reactivating it. Suffice it to say that I have very good reason for not revealing who I am right now. I am sure there may be a handful of people who have already figured out who I am. Cris knows. I have asked him to keep it under his hat and he agreed to do so.

Once the issue is settled one way or another I will most likely come out of hiding. Until then I'm afraid you will just have to take my word for that. Oh and if you look you will notice that I have made a few posts in this thread in the last couple of weeks so I haven't exactly just popped up out of nowhere.

That has actually been in the disclosure for quite some time now. At least it was when I first heard about the controversy 2 or 3 weeks ago when I was doing some research on the issue.

Seems to me Redzone can now be AR'd for officially violating the Community Standards within to the TOS

(hahaha we all posted this at once, and lost in the race to post! Sorry!)

Actually, if you look back through Google cache it wasn't there on the 22nd

Residents are entitled to a reasonable level of privacy with regard to their Second Life experience. Sharing personal information about a fellow Resident --including gender, religion, age, marital status, race, sexual preference, and real-world location beyond what is provided by the Resident in the First Life page of their Resident profile is a violation of that Resident's privacy. Remotely monitoring conversations, posting conversation logs, or sharing conversation logs without consent are all prohibited in Second Life and on the Second Life Forums.
