Question Best photorealistic female skins ?

Hi again ! Forgive if this is the wrong place to write this.

Since I'm doing powershopping, I need ideas on the best photorealistic female skins out there. Any ideas, ladies ? Thanks !

First, the obligatory "do a search!"

Second, I just bought a new skin from LAQ earlier today and I am VERY impressed with their offerings. That said, expect to spend about 2k lindens for one of their skins

Photorealisitic avatar skins look even creepier than botoxed faces on live people.

I sort of agree with Khamon. I tend to stay away from true photo-realistic skins in SL.

I've been in SL for 6 years now and have never bought or worn a photorealistic skin. I like the softer, prettier (IMHO anyway) look of a hand painted skin. Just click on my snapzilla sig below for examples of my avatar's look.

For me, there's no other skin but Nomine, but there are plenty of others to choose from like Launa Fauna's CHAI skins. My avatar just happens to look best in Nomine.

Of course, ultimately you have to be happy with what you choose, so make sure you try plenty of demo's first.

I'm sure there are others who will disagree with me, but I find photorealistic skins creepy. It's like you skinned someone and are wearing their skin over your bone structure, which is simply too "Silence of the Lambs" for my taste.

I started to make a photoreal skin - but without photoreal lighting and better meshes, it just looks really disturbing.

What you probably want is what's referred to as a 'hybrid' skin (one that combines photosourced elements and hand-drawing). Purely photorealistic skins look extremely creepy. Like you've skinned someone and are wearing their face. It is not a good look. And heavily photosourced avatar skins have lighting and shading issues that don't work well within the SL environment.

Also, there's not really a 'best'; there are a lot of content creators in SL whose work is at a comparable level, so in the end 'best' is down to your personal preference.

That said, my recommendations for hybrid hand-drawn and photosourced would be Curio, Laqroki, and Abyss (again based on personal preference, ask someone else and you'll get a different answer).

My advice is to collect demos-as many as you can. Try them on and weed out the ones you hate. Try them on again and weed out more...etc, etc.

Personally I like Laq skins, but every one is different and sometimes a shape and a skin just don't work well together.

It's SL. You get to choose how you want to look.

Can't hit the agree button enough.

In all honesty, do give Nomine a try. Munch's skins are divine and compared to many others the price is incredible.

I like my female skins like I like my artwork: Hastily drawn by enslaved 13-year-olds using crayons on 8.5x11" printer paper.

Gogo blogs a lot of skins, if you want some idea of how something looks before you start trudging around the Grid.

JuicyBomb

And, yes, you probably want a hybrid skin for SL, not a photoreal one.

I'm not sure these are photo-realistic or hybrid, but Namssor Daguerre of Second Skin Labs has some really well done skins: Second Skin Labs Start Page

I think Redgrave are photoreal, and very popular. Curio/Gala Phoenix look photoreal to me but I think they are a blend. Maybe League, Rockberry - probably giving rubbish advice as I am never properly sure what photoreal is and what is handdrawn. The best I think use a mixture of the two techniques.

Photoreal. And, while they're gorgeous from an artistic and technical point of view, they're still pretty creepy walking around in-world.

I don't think they're purely photoreal, although definitely closer to that end of the scale. And often oompa loompa orange.

Most of the popular skins are hybrid.

Lulz, P2 has been wearing a photoreal skin from Namssor since about two weeks after we met

But you gotta admit, it's much better than what he was wearing WHEN we met :shudder:

League skins don't look at all photoreal to me. They don't suit my av either though, so maybe I didn't spend enough time looking at them.
