Under used alter ego
| Tell us about your favorite sim or spot on the grid! I joke sometimes about being an SL tour guide. I meet lots of people while enjoying my SL time and I take them to some of my favorite locations and often they are like wow I never knew this was here! So if you were an SL tour guide showing around a group of newer residents what places might you take them and also brag on your favorite spot in SL. Pictures are encouraged! |

| Insilico is always mentioned in threads such as this, but it quite frankly deserves it. I'm certain I could name a few others well worth visiting, but my mind is elsewhere at the moment.

| I found the Frideswide region today and posted about it here BBC asks What happened to Second Life? but this is a much more suitable thread. It's an Oxford University* project to show life in the trenches in the Great War with audio archives from veterans and war poets poems . Very well done and an excellent use of archive material - It relies a lot on audio material so ensure your sound is on . ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() * St Frideswide is the patron saint of Oxford - An Anglo-Saxon princess who was saved from rape when her assailant was struck blind

| Not my actual favourite, but an extremely good one is Dinosaurs Park, here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Dinosaurs%20Park/12/132/23 It's like the movie Jurassic Park, with laboratories, eating areas, etc. Just like in the film. It has very interesting door mechanisms, some of which need a pass (free to get, as far as I could tell). There are platform lifts (or elevators), which are amusing on the downward journey if you have long, flexible hair. And clever use of sounds throughout. There is also a duplicate base-area, but which is damaged and disused. There, the door mechanisms have been designed to appear quirky, and the audio welcome message warbles as if the tape is warped. Very clever. In terms of actual area, I suspect it is not very big, but the way it is designed makes it very easy to become turned around and lost. I wandered around for an hour, marvelling at the sights, and I don't think I saw it all. There is an underground deserted home of cave people, an amusing pair of velociraptors who discuss your imminent demise, and a number of areas where it is easy to become trapped. I got out of all of those bar the underwater control room - if anyone knows the solution to that, please pass it on. All in all, it has a claustrophobic atmosphere, which was made all the more menacing by there being someone there whose avatar was that of a dinosaur. Very creepy, in a nice sort of way. I can't recommend it enough. |

My Mood: | Visited this place today- what a cool build. Three Sims of great content. The creators have put a whole lot of effort into this. They have a lot of advertising posters for Blue Mars dotted about and an interesting Flag which has a dig at the Lindens......very curious! ![]() More info and pics HERE Slurl For Rune http://slurl.com/secondlife/RUNE/97/14/59 |
