[12:59] Pink Linden: more than 1.3 million listings still remain on XStreet,

Not any more I don't know where she got that number from, it was 1.145 million on the day they announced the policy, and has dropped to 1.093 million at the moment. That's from their own page showing how many items are listed by category. The telling number will be how many are left the month *after* the first time the increased fees are assessed. Given that 90% of the SL population doesn't read the blog, I'm sure a lot of people don't even know this is happening yet.

Not allowed to cross post to the place where they posted the original request for answers, apparently people are scared to comment.

As I remember it they did gradfather SOME but at the same time restricted what could be done on properties even more than they originally announced.

If you're logged in to the site and can't access the merchants roundtable then there's a link on the main commerce site to submit a ticket to be added but nothing will happen until Monday. I'm fucked if I know how I got access because I wasn't on the old forum and I didn't submit a ticket to get into the new one, but someone added me. Maybe I'm FIC!

go here https://support.secondlife.com/ics/s...uestionID=5099

select ticket type = xstreet sl shopping
then select Merchants Roundtable access request

Those who had access before the move kept it - until they found that they'd actually forgot to lock down the forum and it was open to anyone.. so they cancelled all access and made us reapply.. except for Ciaran who is obviously special in some way.. (cue creepy FIC type music.. )

It can take anything from an hour to 24 hrs to process usually and the ticket type is open to both basic and premium accounts

I fully admit I have not been an active merchant for quite some time. I maintained my listings as a service to those who would IM looking for my older stuff.

My sales did not justify the new fees hence I have removed everything from cross street.

When I looked a few days ago there had been 1.92 million (I think certainly 1.91) listings registered down the years. How many of them actually have a webpage still is unknown but I would think that more than 100,000 of them survive as delisted rather than permanently deleted.

Do you ever sleep? I'm seriously worried that you're some sort of vampire, you're always around!

Listings have definitely been dropping, the most noticeable is apparel, as that's the largest.

After thinking things over, I'm reversing my decision to remove my items and leave Xstreet. Instead I think I'm willing to pay a L$10/month fee to sell my skins for a non-free price on Xstreet.

The Emperor says the "losses" were intended and the cleansing operation is showing signs of remarkable success.

And they haven't even sent in the Storm Troopers yet. This is just the attack of the Stukas.

I love the listing description... The questions as the titles of new sections are quite fitting. I found myself actually saying those things while I was reading it....

Well played!

Of course the biggest giggle is that by default XStreet lists from most expensive to least hahah

Beebo - you have your Demo system - for the cost of one listing

You know with a lil bit of script magic you could do the same trick to an inworld box to deliver a freebie object.... actually an entire range of freebie objects.

The obvious thing for people who want to give freebies away on Xstreet is to make massive freebie collections and sell them for about 4L$ (just enough to cover the fee). If you put 100 items in the box, it comes to 0.04L$ per item, close enough to zero to not matter.

Oh, and create a freebie group to also give away items as group notices, and link the group name to the XStreet listing.

Hey, wait a minute, you can actually use a group as a selling system that way. Group membership fee equals the price you want to sell your item at. Item is listed as a group notice, which you can retrieve once you join the group.

Does anyone know if the per item monthly fee will apply to inactive listings, or just active ones?

More traffic and responds in views and clicks, then any ad board in world will give you for more L$.
I will stay there and list new goods. Only a bit more careful (with one eye on the expenses) on what to list.

And of course there are other marketplaces that are without listing fees.

Paying $10L for an advertisement is, yes the cheapest advertisement you can get, however, it has to actually work. From my experience with xstreet, I'd be paying a total of $1200L/month for little to no extra exposure. I do much better with my one time $1000L purchase of a fash-con terminal and weekly postings on their group for no additional cost. If you're getting better exposure from being on xstreet, then great, and go for it, but I"m still not relisting unless they do a 180 and either drop the charge or exchange in instead of commission.

This is a loaded question I immediately asked because it is seriously relative to seasonal goods.

All this was said to be about too many listings. If they say they will not charge for inactive listings then exactly what is the purpose of the propaganda?

Linden Lab can either not charge for inactive listing thereby admitting they are liars and not very good at it or they can charge for anything placed in a magic box and optionally retire the rule about deleted listings never being allowed back. Now the reason for that rule had to do with unscrupulous unethical merchants running scams and people giving bad ratings and then the merchant simply deleting the record and starting over to collect money from a new set of suckahs.

So I await Linden Lab bringing in someone with more prowess at customer politics to come up with a plan C that rescues them from the Pink Colossus Follies. Perhaps some facade of "the inactive listings are not in the same database" (read partitioned off first by active flag) even though the overall database will be affected by the number of records regardless of partitioning.

But we already know and have proven in the forums and by supporters of this "thing" that "clutter" is not why people cannot find anything. They simply don't know xstreet search syntax.

Linden Lab will begin using the google appliance which will result in them having control of who shows at the top of the results list regardless of relevance. Sorted.

This, coupled with an active product blog and access to the SL blog feeds, are a must for any decently sized content creator.

I'm learning this the hard, slow way.
