I wonder if this supposed system would end up in a "pieces of flair" scenario. You get chewed out for just slapping on the uniform avatar without caring about the customization options. But you also get chewed out if you show up as a 20 foot dragon.

It's just common sense. Just like real life. When your trying to promote a professional image you dress professionally. I dress in poofy dresses and or gothy/punky clothes in SL but when I'm doing work related contract stuff I wear classier business like outfits in SL.

I don't see why it's such a controversy either.. There are SO many places to find clothes to dress in a professional yet fashionable way and look different from others. I don't know if I would want to talk about, say, medical procedures with an avatar wearing a black cape and goat hooves or dressed as an adorable 2ft tall kitten.

Virtual mortgage advisors in SL? Even the real-world banking system has been exposed as make-believe, so what hope for a virtual-world one?

My wunderkind son works for Apple. IF he elects to go in at all, rather than working from home, he usually looks like he spent the night under a bridge. I doubt Apple would have any SL dress code.

He does business development involving Apple ppl from Asia and I sent him info about virtual meetings, since they do conferencing, but he was disdainful.
