My Mood:  | Prokofy declares war on Jira Prokofy neva has started attacking jira, the SL issue tracker. Determined to "overthrow the evil controlling cabal of coders who run second life" The main battleground is here: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/WEB-382 Prokofy starts out by accusing us of abusing the power lindens grant on jira. And then accusing lindens, when Rob Linden personally tells her to fuck off (in more tactful words, of course) She's also been spanning out here https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/MISC-57 and here https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/WEB-399 And even on her own blog. An entry aptly titled: The Battle For The Soul Of Second Life yes. She really named it that. And Lex Neva's counter blog. Far more worth your time, if you ask me. Jira Drama I would hope anyone who ever looked at it, could see what a mess the old Feature Voting Tool was. There was no ability to edit features, comment on them, fix duplicates, attach relevant files, prioritise, organise, etc etc. The voting system was unfair, and it was generally a black hole where ideas went to die. Prokofy speaks of it like paradise, though. Jira has all of the above, and more. Including most notably, the ability for the community to collaborate and sort things out, meaning one less thing for LL to mess up, and allowing decent ideas to be heard among all the noise. I think it's pretty clear which side of the debate I'm on by now. If you haven't had enough drama this week, there's plenty of reading material. I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on the matter. |

My Mood:      | I couldn't get past the first paragraph of the blog entry, where she shows such a profound lack of understanding about Google and Facebook that I can only imagine what comes next. Facebook will save us from our Google oppresors! Somone better let MoveOn.org know, since they are currently in a fight with Facebook over the lack of privacy of their new ad system. As curious as I am on how Prokofy can actually tie this all into a jihad against Jira, I can't get sucked into the insane abyss again. Ok, I can at least go to sleep amused.

My Mood:  | Some people exist purely to be adversarial. From the standpoint of self-actualization I'm glad This Person has something to scream about, I just wish it was about a real injustice. The 'world' of SL is bullshit and over the last couple years LL has made that abundantly clear. It sucks to fall for a lie but it's just sad to cling to it so violently. |
