An interesting JIRA here [#WEB-1295] Age verification page doesn't allow for 31 days in a month - Second Life Issues

It seems that Second Life's Age Verification page doesn't take into account some months have 31 days in them when asking for the person's date of birth.

It seems to be the thing to diss Perl but how is this for date calculations? From the Date::Calc man page -

Note that this package projects the Gregorian calendar back until the year 1 A.D. -- even though the Gregorian calendar was only adopted in 1582, mostly by the Catholic European countries, in obedience to the corresponding decree of Pope Gregory XIII in that year.

Some (mainly protestant) countries continued to use the Julian calendar (used until then) until as late as the beginning of the 20th century.

Easter itself falls the first Sunday after the first full ecclesiastical moon after March 21; it can be as early as March 22 and as late as April 25. I don't know what we'd do if it fell on March 31; not play Second Life I suppose as that date doesn't exist for the Lab.

Well, theoretically LL has a Quality Assurance (QA) department although there tend to be two types of software QA. There's QA engineers and QA testers. This would be something that a QA engineer wouldn't even be looking at but it would be something that a QA tester would certainly catch.

I suspect that LL only has QA engineers.

I remember having a long thread about how futile age verification is anyhow...I used to run identity verification with both of the two major IT certification testing companies. It's impossible to verify identity online atm. I'm sure I don't need to explain why again, but I had no idea it was executed as poorly as Luc being able to use dead people. Luc, did you use their actual birth YEARS?

They can fix the date thing, that's no problem. The system however will never ever work worldwide. Ever. Period.
