Hey

I'm thinking of getting a premium account, pay the yearly cost etc.

But someone told me that once you go premium, you can't downgrade? I heard people on this forum mention downgrading before I believe, but this guy in SL mentioned that all the people he knew who had premium and who wanted to go down to basic again got banned for that move.

Any truth to the story? And is premium still worth it actually?

I've done it on another av and didn't get banned. But if your renew date is a long way out, you might as well keep it in the meantime for the weekly stipend. Just cancel it right before your renew date.

ETA: Sorry, misread a bit. I read it as you already had one. So I guess my comment should be more along the lines of if/when you upgrade and reconsider, wait until your renew date is close.

For the record, I asked the guy if his friends actually downgraded, or if they just stopped paying, and he couldn't answer that question, but I just wanted to be 100% certain, since I don't know if I really want to keep paying for premium for several years.

Yeah downgrading is easy. Did it with an alt myself.

Yes, you can downgrade. I did it last year. If you are paid up for a full year, you won't get anything back, but I was a monthly payer so that wasn't a problem for me.

Yearly premium is the best bargain, but as Brenda noted, you can't get your money back so "downgrading" on that plan doesn't make any sense.

Iwas a premium for over a year. You do have to go in and cancel. If not they keep charging the credit card you used. If you go into your account and i think its account overview, you can select there to downgrade.

Coyote and Phee have both been premium. Neither are now. No bannings, either.

I would bet that they just stopped paying. I was premium when I first started, but downgraded to basic too, and no bans :-)

I downgraded, but with the crazy low prices on mainland I am toying with the idea of upgrading again. I enjoy my little rental cottage, but I might want to do something involving some advertising and events. I will play with this idea for a while longer before doing it though.

I downgraded my land alt after I sold my mainland parcel and moved back to Anarchy without any kind of issues.

Yeah, if somebody just stops paying they will completely wipe out inventory and all that.

If you downgrade on the web site (and make sure the downgrade really sticks across a billing cycle, remember that this is LL!!), you will escape unbruised.
