Copy-botted Forest discovered

Whilst exploring the Grid I came across a Sim with a large number of nice looking trees . It turns out that it looks like many of these trees and plants are copybotted . I've seen both Fate Gardens and Heart Garden items with creators who I don't recognise

There are 3 creators for most of these trees are
Hadasan Haystack, Atila Menkez & Carlinha Radek
Here are some examples - If you recognise the original maker post here and I'll contact them with further details - I've already contacted Khamon and Lilith Heart

Here are some examples

Fate Gardens Tree:

I know this bamboo intimately from when I had a jungle ... It's Hearts Gardens

Here is also a couple of photos of the full sim just in case people recognise a tree or two by other creators (A very few of the trees/bushes seem legitimate)

I think the question here needs to be, are these trees (and other items) for sale or are they just used to make the sim look nice?

If they are for sale, then yes this needs dealt with, however if they are not for sale, the owner may not realise that these tree's are copy botted and if that's the case, a simple notecard to the owner to point that out should be sufficient.

Without going into details I believe there is more to this than an owner unwittingly buying copybotted plants which is why I'd like help identifying the examples I posted so I can pass on the full details to the relevant content makers and let them make the decision as to what needs to be done .

Some of those look like Kris Lehman's work. I'll give him a prod to come & look at this thread.

Khamon Fate: Hello Hadasan, please tell me how your name is displayed as the creator of my FGJ Forest Tree owned by Fabiodragon on E4E. I'm trying to get all my facts in a row. thx
We'll see if he replies and what he says. Mine is not copyable or for sale, has my product/ company name in the title/description fields, and is of course just one of the textures with no scripted features. Altogether the worst of it, at E4E, is that people can't see what the trees really do.

Perhaps I should contact the owner as well. Maybe he'd rather have a copy of a real working tree.

Khamon Fate: Hello FabioDragon, your E4E sim is very nice to wander through and relax in. I notice that you've planted a number of stolen FGJ Forest Trees from Fate Gardens and wonder if you'd like to have real working copies. Here's a LM you can use to see what the genuine scripted trees do.

I was just talking to Khamudy and pointed out that this is precisely why I sometimes just want to close my store and go back to simply keeping things I make private. I'm sure that people don't care that I use my SL income to feed my family and every time someone offers a 'free' version of my work, that is one less purchase that I could have counted on to help pay my bills and make sure that I can create more in SL.

To use a First Life comparison, if I had a store that was constantly broken into and ripped off, I would have a couple options: Increase my security, or move my store to someplace safer. Both are not an option for me.

SL provides the perfect platform for me however. It allows me to be as creative as I can, but on my own timeline, ensuring that I can make the BEST that I can, unhindered by deadlines. I've done work similar to this for the past 15 years for other people. It was quite refreshing to be able to work only for myself and directly communicate with my fans, friends and customers.

This is hardly a rare occurance for me, finding out that someone else has stolen something I've made. DMCA's are filed with Linden Lab for Botanical on a weekly basis, literally. (this will be the second in as many days)

My thanks to Tyche for getting the 'creator' names, in case someone sees this thread and pulls the items before I was able to file another report, though.

I tried to contact the owners of the open life grid last year to try and get my items removed. I never heard back. I was hoping to open a kind of 'free' store there, but the lack of communication on something that serious really just turned me off to the whole idea.

opening stores on other grids is neat in theory, but time consuming and opens up a whole new can of worms in practice

Before you AR every single creator you see.. please go into their profiles, and see if those creators are selling these items..

You can't imagine how many angry IMs I get from people claiming I "stole their house that they made".. Because some idiot housebuilder uses a megaprim floor, and links that as the parent, and then they flip out all over me when my name shows as creator.

Fucking morons.

It happens a lot with trees too.. so please do make sure that the creators shown are really doing something wrong before ruining their SL lives with your Abuse Reports.

Um I think Tyche is smart enough to know that. And as she said in the first post, she contacted two creators already.

You'd be amazed how many intelligent, successful creators see the wrong "Creator" name on one of their newest items.. and don't bother thinking first.. they just react, and badly.

After all.. how would you feel, having worked for days on a new building, then you link it all up and set it up for sale.. and then a week or so later, someone IMs you saying that someone has copybotted your building... and you get there, click the building, get creator and "What the fuck, this person totally copybotted my building! I'm reporting this!" And then it turns out that you used a megaprim, and you foolishly left one of the megaprims as the root prim, thus showing the wrong creator.

How many grid attack cubes were made by Philip Linden?

Every day, 6 times a day, I get IMs from people asking where they can get the "Winter Tree" or the "Love Grotto" or the "Skybox"... the castle, the sky rocks, the greifing privacy walls, etc etc.

It's not a far stretch to people quickly doing "select" to get creator.. instead of using "Inspect" to get the creator*S* of the various parts.

Megaprims are used a LOT in trees.. and I don't think It's being unreasonable to point out that the person "shown as creator" might be a completely innocent third party in all of this... especially in the easily fooled "Edit Panel" method of getting creator (that Tyche clearly used in the screenshots).

In fact, it is conceivable that these trees might BE genuine, and the original creators might have used megaprims, without realizing the effects on whose name will be shown as creator. The possibility exists.

I'm not saying that they ARE innocent.. I'm just saying that you want to be double-sure before firing off complaints to LL/dmca's.

Right. Did you read this thread? Khamon already said the trees look illicitly gained to him.

Edit to add: And one of the people involved already has a history of taking things to OpenSim-based grids without permission.

I did use Inspect as well as Edit to look at the creators - For the sake of the photos I just captured the Edit details (it saved a click or two) . Also I'm not AR'ing anyone over this myself - that is up to the real content makers to decide what to do .

Update: the owner took mine down and apologized for the occurrence. I gave him a real one and thanked him for working with me.

Have not heard anything from the notcreator and haven't dug up anything useful thorough his profile. Guess I'll have to sleep with another Linden.

I just saw that you went back and edited the post a couple hours ago to include the remark about the ignore list. That's really exceptionally four-year-old of you. Guess you don't really handle differing opinions all that well!

I came across a thread by Lilith Heart recently in SL.com, she said she has reports of her stuff being copy botted almost daily. I was really shocked, I didn't know it happened that often.

The red tree looks like either Julia Hathor or Natural Fantasies work. The green tree pictured above it looks like Roopert Huldsch trees.
