My only opinion of that thread link is; why must you have an earlier rez date than some people to have the permission to form an opinion??

And I think this is great. So they're testing it on the people who bring them the most land money. Who cares. I hope it works! Even if they are only the guinea pigs for it... imagine what work goes into maintaining 250 plus sims?!?! I don't have the patience nor the lithium to pull that off.

Good luck Adam I hope it shows more benefits soon!

ETA, OMG..... Beezle is so going into my signature. PRICELESS

Good grief, I read the thread on the official boards and now am glad I cancelled my account back in 2003 and missed most of the last 5 years here..... I mean the sight of Adam biting the heads off Kittens must have been horrible!!!

Glad Josh has calmed him down since those days.....

I am obviously out of the loop. Why is Adam the bad guy here?

Read the "other side" as well, interesting to me that your born on date is something that entails you to be all knowing and correct at all costs.
She says that it isn't used for that purpose but a quick read of her profile (her name being the first in sl and all) makes me believe otherwise. Is attacking someone else's name and store allowed over there? (check her sig) I haven't been in Sl forever so I wouldn't know.
Wish I had such a sense of entitlement for being in a pretend world of pixels....ooooh look it's sunny outside!

I have only been around since May 2006, and therefore couldn't possibly express a valid opinion on this issue!

FULL are the bad guys for not blobbing about this before the test was implemented. They've put Adam in the position of being favoured among the Lords of the Privy Council. He is of course, and well deserved; but it's foolish for The Lab to throw that in the population's collective face.

If Fate Gardens were ever advertised on the MOTD, the poor homestead it lives in would be crashed the whole day from overwhelming numbers of occupants. I wonder how the Lords' rental offices will deal with that prospect.

They take care of the privys in Second Life?

The thing I find amusing about the MOTD is that it says "click on this URL" when the fucking thing isn't clickable.

Suppose we should do our bit to 'push' the subject one way or the other but I couldn't care less what LL does anymore. Logging in is a chore. I did log in this morning and spent 5 minutes staring at gas clouds with name tags above them. So I put it off.

Just one girl's opinion... MOTD should be used for announcements like "Hey gang, pretty soon you'll need to be verified in order to have sexxorz, shop for sexxorz, or even look at sexxorz, so hurry up and verify!"

Not an advertisement for a resident.

Yep. If they want to sell adspace on the login screen fine, but that should be a seperate issue.

Opt-out back door?

https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-14039

"Create subscription channels for MOTD so residents can avoid ads and still get service announcements"

Just an idea to make ads more palatable for more established residents, and still visible to the newbies. Of whom this program demonstrates LL's tender care.

Myself, I'm not religious about it.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank Adam and Joshua for existing, so that I could make an 'oh teh drahmaz' joke about this across the street.

edit: oops, lol, Oryx! I thot you weren't reading over there any more! *shakes finger*

It seems all the treads on LL's forums, including SLX are getting 86'ed.

Oh, FFS.

Threads across the street are unreadable. It is like YouTube comments over there.

What makes it successful? How many people really have more than 250 full-prim sims beside the gov and anshe?
I wonder that too.

"Gee, I wonder if we advertise a huge landowner on the MOTD whether more people will flock there or not?"

So, what are they testing? How many people read the MOTD?

They surely are not testing how effective having LL pimp your business on its message of the day is over, say, NOT doing that.

It must be very discouraging for smaller landowners who rent. Nothing like sending the huge bulk of the new players to one business, instead of others.

You'd think giving new players the option of signing into the game at one of these hubs would have been enough. Apparently not.
