I'm not sure this will do much good, but here goes:

bladyblue, I'm sympathetic to the issue of infohubs potentially using excessive sim resources. And I do think you're getting mobbed a bit and kicked around for the amusement of others (and I did the kicking a few times myself). However, your behavior is not doing you any favors. If you'd come on here and said, "I thought I was getting a small infohub, but then LL heavily promoted it, it uses up lots of sim resources, and now I have to move if I want to get away, this kinda sucks," you'd have gotten a much better reaction. Not everyone would have agreed with you and I suspect most would have urged you to move (we have low expectations for LL, here), but you'd get some sympathy and few people would be sparring with you for lulz.

But when you imply that the wall was put there just to mess with you, you start out unpleasant, and there are stories of prior bad behavior from you... well, I'm sure you're seeing how well that works out. You come off as pretty unreasonable, to be blunt. The wall may have been put there as a reaction to your build or behavior, but I seriously doubt it was put there to hurt you, for instance. Lots of people use screens like that; it's not about screwing over their neighbors.

I'm not trying to tell you that you shouldn't communicate in the way you have been. It's your choice, obviously. But it's not very effective at winning people over to your side.

Ravenelle rezzed that structure (as she has done i the past) to make people do what she wants them to do)

You add absolutely nothing to the conversation that was not expressed before. You only get to see your name several times and use racy language so you feel sassy. Its fun but useless.
This is the delusion I'm talking about. You need to take responsibility for the reaction you inspire, not shrug it off as some cartoon character lynch mob.

Credit where credit is due though, the last paragraph is true. I don't have much to add to the conversation about this non-issue - I was just browsing and couldn't resist the urge to wind the crazy lady up a bit. It is fun.

So just because you have your draw distance down very low, you think that makes other people liars when they show that your build is visible from the infohub ?

I think you owe me an apology

If I was to ever move next door to your god awful blemish of a club, the first thing I'd do is put a wall up so I didn't have to look at it.

Does that mean I'm a griefer?

That's not really an answer.

Which you imagine to be...what? If people want to explore outside of the info hub, they can walk through the wall. Nothing is stopping them.

Having to keep your draw distance low to cut down on lag is client side and means your computer is a bit underpowered.

I don't know Ravenelle, but I doubt this is true. (If she's a Linden's wife, shouldn't she be able to get more done than a piddly wall, anyway?) Wanting to block off a view of something aesthetically unappealing is different from wanting to keep people away from a place.

Bah, not true. (Or not necessarily true, anyway.) Stop blaming viewers and their computers for the inefficient crap of your typical builder.

This question has kinda been asked a few times but I'd like a more clear answer, I reckon.

If you hate the infohub and you want it removed and the only wall on the sim is on the property of the infohub and all it does is encase the parcel where all the parasites hang out that you hate and that draw all the sim resources away anyways ... then why do you care?

I own a business near an infohub and I do so because it is near the infohub and gets traffic from the infohub.

If a private owner had that parcel and rezzed the wall so they wouldn't have to see Crotchula McCooterson 30m tall across the roadway, would that be griefing?

ARe you pissed off that your businesses aren't getting the free publicity from being close to a popular infohub that brings in lots of traffic (and for the record I was at Bear the other day to see the wall and I think there were 4 people on the whole sim, during mid-day hours) or are you pissed off that the infohub is there?

You can't really have it both ways. What good would it do to have a trashy club and a scammy DJ school business that prey on noobs if you aren't in a location that gets traffic from new residents? That's why you don't want to leave, you'd rather stay there and draw attention to yourself so people come by and at least give meaningless traffic to your parcels than actually choose what side of the fence you're on about it.

It's kinda old.

But you finally answered the question: What is a grief wall?

You: "A grief wall is a structure placed to block another person's content or view."

But, it doesn't block your view. It only prevents visitors you seem to resent from viewing other builds in the Bear sim. So what's the big deal?

Oh, that's right. TORLEY'S WIFE put up "the grief wall" to annoy you.

But the wall doesn't affect you in the slightest, so if Ravenelle did erect it maliciously (which I doubt very much), why not just laugh at the FAIL and go about your business?

So if this club had 30 avatars sitting about in random chatting and howllllzzz would this be a worse or equal problem? (sim resource wise)
Also if someone decided to buy land at bear and decided to make a camping place with 30 spots would that be a worse or equal problem? (considering they also are spending 200 dollars or whatever)
Would the purchasing avatars rez date be a factor or the amount of times actual talk to a linden (ZOMG!!!1!!) was involved?
If it is such a problem and considered (in your head) a breach of service issue with linden labs, then take it to court, harassing players who are hanging out in a linden provided area is probably not the way to go here.

We need a Crazy Lady translation book:

The people at the info hub are ruining my Second Life. = I am an extremely bitter individual. I like to spend my time zoomed in to listen in on conversations and making alts to spy on people at the neighbouring info hub. I will occasionally take a pop at the noobs there, be nasty and snide, act righteously offended, shovel drama that doesn’t concern them down their throats when they TP in, or play the sob story card on them about some bullshit that happened years ago. I can’t seem to leave them alone. It gives my Second Life purpose.

Torley’s wife is leading a campaign of evil grief upon me and my land. = I’m a crazy lady who hangs out of the window and shouts abuse to passers by, and then wonder why they throw eggs at me.

They are using a grief wall to keep traffic out of my club and deny me my honest business. = The club is hideous, old fashioned, and people are better off not seeing that when they TP in. The wall does it's job.

I’ve been a paying Second Life account holder since 1979 and <insert random rant here> = I don’t know how to answer that so I’ll say a bunch of random stuff in an attempt to dodge the question.

It's a griefer wall put up to make my Second Life a misery! = It's a wall.

You are pandering to the mob! = You do not agree with me or are criticising me.

Anything else?

A picture's worth a thousand words...

Snapzilla Album - Winter Ventura - Bear Infohub

...but that doesn't stop me from adding comments.

I just think it looks petty, and cheap.. These "barrier walls" are the SL equivalent of the ubiquitous blue-plastic-tarp in RL. They're an eyesore and they really do junk up the view for everyone in the sim. (well the half who can see it).

I'd honestly rather see Linden raze the infohub to the ground or kick someone out of the sim than encourage new users to do petty stuff like this whenever they have a disagreement with a neighbor.

Most Private Estates wouldn't stand for this kind of escallation.

They could just enclose the infohub, build a new building that you can't see out of on that side.. or in some other way make a modest wall that doesn't encourage traffic in that direction, without trailer-trashing-up the whole sim.

Winter - i find the privacy screen adds an element of immersion that your photos aren't capturing. It should be noted that this is not the first time issues have cropped up between Lias and users of the infohub, and to those ends, it wasn't even exclusively an issue between her and Ravenelle, as much as she makes it out to be now.

Remember this?

Last year right about this time, there was much uproar about how Lias was visually griefing the infohub. (The club with the giant legs is just the most recent string of events). Back then, folks were being shot, being ejected, bots were being run on her land to try and prevent people from using the hub. All elements any other landowner would be well within their rights to AR or at least seek privacy from.

FWIW i think it was a poor choice to station an infohub in a predominantly resident owned area, but what's done is done, and the residential acceptance of an infohub in the area upon the initial proposal should have considered any further potential problems cropping up down the road.

I also agree that you can't expect to take advantage of traffic from said infohub yet at the same time slag everyone who doesn't happen to patronise your services.
