It wouldn't have believed this could be SL if you showed me it a year ago...

I did some tweaking on the day settings to give a more realistic feel. For 6am, 12pm, and 3pm I increased ambient (it's 0.9 at 12pm) and decreased sun intensity a bit.

Use your daily RL experience as a guide.

Spare a thought for me. On both my computers (MacBook Pro and PC), Windlight fails to work properly. If the problems remain in the released version, it will mean the end of my time in Second Life.

*sigh* I just know this is gonna force me to upgrade my PC...my current one just doesn't have the chops to run WindLight. I can't get water reflections to work, for instance. Damn you SL, damn you!!

Mine works... ish. If I turn on "atmospheric shaders" then I can see glowing objects, but water does not reflect and looks like this:

If I turn "atmospheric shaders" off, then I can see water reflections just fine, but not glowing objects. I don't get it!

And I also HATE that they made AV name tags non-selectable. If you have an all prim avatar, how are you supposed to get to your own profile? (You can't mod you profile when in 'people search'.)

Erm, Edit -> Profile from the client menus? Did they remove that?

I think Windlight has great potential, though I find the default settings too washed out and haven't had much time to play with it.

Oohh... I didn't know that.

Also, I can't even count how many times I've applied a snapshot to my wall when trying to give it to someone. >_<

I think that there's a haze setting that softens it on mine. It's awkward comparing tips because the way this uses people's graphics cards I see that not everyone renders things the same way.

I love windlight, even with all the new fanciness I get way better FPS than the normal client. Putting dazzle on top of windlight is nice too, however I can't get the environment settings to work once I do that.

Turning on water reflections is a big FPS hit, so I only turn them on when I need them.

Oh and the new pre-built graphic settings bar kind of invalidates my whole long post about how to make the most of your FPS, but I totally welcome it! Low is mighty ugly, but it really is fast!

That's why I usually open up their profile and drag it there rather than handing them stuff direct.

I'm not loving windlight. It's really harsh looking, although Cory told me how to soften things a bit. Plus, I really need a new video card.
And it makes prims disappear, although I'm sure that's a bug.

Yes but a few minutes before I took the pic a huge chuck of the ship just disappeared and wouldn't come back! I had to relog.

This is it from the front, it's an awesome build. I think it looks more realistic from the other angle.

At least the void water now reaches the horizon when you're on the ground.

I love Windlight, myself, though I still need to figure out how to take good avatar pictures in it (which is to say, pictures with very little environmental light affecting them) and I'm not really thrilled with the bright, light bloomy water reflections at night. The moon ain't that bright. A small price to pay, though, for a horizon that doesn't suck, clouds that don't suck, and the ability to change the water color and transparency.

LOL you just made me think of the time I went to transfer a really REALLY dirty snapshot of Siobhan O'Flynn to her, and I missed and turned the entire sidewalk in front of my house into that image. Good times!

I adore windlight on the scenery. You can take the most beautiful landscape pics and the sea looks beautiful. That's why it saddens me that I've got to switch it off to see my avatar properly. We know SL isn't real and we don't have avatar dynamic shadows so I don't see why it has to affect avatars so much. Here's hoping the final version sorts that.

I'm not loving it either, for certain purposes. Who should I get in touch with with my concerns?

That's a bug, and will be fixed, I believe.

Also, coco. Jira is the place.
