It's actually not news. Frolic has an established history of complete and utter douchebaggery. He ran a miss virtual whatever pageant and never paid the winner (something he has done multiple times) and now he's decided he owns Runway Magazine:

As a side note, I seem to recall he called several of his pageants the Miss SL Universe Pageant. I talked to him a few times, he kept asking me to be a judge. He was always nice to me though, and I also seem to recall is from Venezuela or some such place.

i'm sad to see Runway magazine closed but for him to take advantage...that is practically really unprofessional.

I only read BOSL once or twice. for featuring about the best thing happen in SL...hmm may be the magazine concept is too huge for me. I rather read Role Magazine.

Would someone please educate Maggie that trademarks are not copyrights and that using DMCA to fight a trademark violation is wholly ineffective? That she will likely have to go to extreme lengths to stop this or any douchebag from registering it and thus claiming the right to use the name (see, e.g., OWK in SL). Please. Thanks.

I can't claim to have read either magazine, nor can I say I know anyone involved. I can say that sadly, this happens in RL too, sadly there will always be unscrupulous people, deigning themselves worthy of anything they can get their grubby paws on.

Bleh, all these "Best of Blahblah", "SL's greatest thing", "Must-see of SL's best evah" stuff just washes over me with such indifference. I sometimes wonder why Second Life brings out so much grandstanding.
