Lack of customer service to non-US timezoned Customers....

Ok, need some advice

I bought a system in SL for a fair amouth of L$, and its complicated so the company runs classes on it. However all the classes are scheduled for something like 4am my time, so I can't attend, I bought the system in September and have been waiting very patiently for the promised eurofriendly classes.

They still havent appeared and i found out today that they are unlikely to happen until March.

I've been IM'ing the Customer Service people since early october with questions about the system and they are never online at the same time as me (fair enough) so I just get sent notecards while I'm offline. It took 4 days of offline IM's questions and answers just to get one tiny part working

It's kind of come to a head, where my frustration is getting the better of me and I'm complaining. Basically my point is if they offered no service fair enough, but they do, but only at convienient times for them, my L$ are just as good as anyone elses and they took them without blinking so I should get the same level of service as anyone else

Today, I had arranged for a one-on-one tutorial with the creator, who didn't show

Now, I'm not trying to be an awkward bitch, I just am, I can't help being in the UK and being fast asleep when they are all online.

So I have 2 questions...1) am I being unreasonable and 2) do you think they are being unreasonable?

I don't think you are being unreasonable - if the system requires training then they should really provide it to any customer. If they arranged a mutual time with you and don't show then its them in the wrong .

As an alternative have you asked them if there is another European customer who has the system who maybe able to help you ?

I don't think you are being unreasonable at all. If the system is that complicated that they need to run classes on it, they should be hiring people from different time zones to do classes that fit with the world, not just the West Coast.

No youre not being unreasonable.

Im not sure of the spread of ppl online by nationality as theres been quite a big rise in concurrency the last few months, but I would have thought non americans were represented in a large enough amount for ppl to take this into account.

I dont think it is unreasonable to expect customer support for something that cost you more than 10 US dollars. However unless you spent like 50 dollars or more on the item do not expect anyone will change their timezones to assist you or offer you classes.

I think you have the right to be treated as a customer, just like any other customer unfortunately sometimes timezones get the best of us all.

So this one is too hard to call....

as i said, if they offered no service then fair enough, but if they have been promising eurotimezoned stuff since september and havent, they shouldnt really be selling it to us

How about getting a friend, whose time zone fits theirs better, to take the class for you and then teach you one on one? You could offer to share the gadget (whatever it is) with that friend, and/or do some other favor for them in exchange.

Your original question is a complicated one, and there are many variables involved.

However I do think it sucks that they agreed to meet with you and then stood you up.

Because if it's something I can do, I'll do it and offer international support . Darkley, you can be in the pilot program (aka free, but I get to use you as a reference).

Aki, Wildefire, you want in? Can always make money if you can do something better than the competition .

It sounds like those classes take place on a regular schedule, not just once and then nevermore, so to speak... so, I strongly doubt they would recreate the whole teaching units, texts or whatever they use each time they need it, but keep a written textscript of the whole lesson instead.

Can't they just pass a copy of such a script to you to get you started while you have to wait? Or provide a chatlog from a former lesson or anything like that?

Can't they give you at least a chat history transcript of a class? Wouldn't that help a lot already?

edit: yeah, what Lil said. Gotta read it all before I reply to the OP I guess.

It's pretty hard to meet people who are 6-12 hours out as they tend to either speak a different language or you just don't come on at the same time as them anyway.

Just get up at four and attend the class. It'll be less irritation and hassle than waiting x number of weeks/months for them to come through. THEN YOU WILL BE DONE AND HAVE WHAT YOU WANT.

I don't know if this is a silly idea but maybe you could ask for a video tutorial?
They could record the lessons and upload the videos somewhere, like youtube.

good idea!

update

I'm not going to say what it is, as i dont want to badmouth them and i think they are nice guys really, but its not a sex-bed

Got chatlogs of the classes, which are almost as good as the real thing, and some other bits and pieces when i logged in this morning

Hopefully its going to be ok - ive offered to help other UK people with it, when i get the hang, so they dont have the same issue as i did
