I've done club dancing in SL (though in gay male clubs, obviously) and the most important thing is interacting with the customers. Emote constantly, and that doesn't mean just press a gesture once every five minutes. Really chat with people. It gets them to feel like they know you better. If the club doesn't have a host/hostess when you're on shift then you (and the other dancers) need to fill that role, making sure that customers feel welcome, making them want to come back.

Never, ever say anything like "please tip the dancers" or "please show the staff some Linden love". Thats equal to begging, and is the quickest way to put customers off. If you've ever said that, stop. If you work with other people who say it, find somewhere else to work. Seriously. Its a huge turn-off for a lot of people.

Also being there three days isn't long enough. It takes a while for the customers to get to know you - the more you talk with them, the quicker that will happen. Another point - I was a customer of the club for several months before I started working there so all the other customers already knew me. It might be a good approach to get yourself known as a customer in a place first. That of course will mean attending their events and tipping their dancers. What goes around, comes around.

I was typically earning L$400 for a 2 hour shift, and I was by no means the biggest earner there, so it's not impossible to make good money.

And thats a nice pic. Put it in your profile, and make sure the rest of your profile is filled in too.

Lourdes, i think it's not just the shape the image seems too make me look alot unproportinal. it's kinda stretched out too fit across the page lol. Though i'm not too sure i want too shrink down my boobs, i've actually had a few compliments on my shape from both men and woman really.

Oh no no no... it was never my intention to say to shrink your bewbs. I was just pointing out that guys like then that way. So since you are trying to get their attention leave them as is.

Hi Baby,

Just poppin in to offer my personal opinion. I as a rule try to tip the dancers/host/DJ when I go to a club just because it's polite.

However, the dancers that catch my attention get more from me. Those are the ones that a) look different somehow from the others, b) make me feel welcome, c) have cute emotes.

As far as appearance, your Avi is really pretty but I do agree with Cindy that the boobies and waistline need some more realistic adjustment. Perhaps different hair that stands out too?

Also, is your skin a Redgrave? I personally am really bored with seeing Redgrave skins, seems like every other Avi I see is wearing one. Sign of a popular product, but it may be that the customers feel that there is nothing 'special' about your look and that you blend in. Especially in a large, popular club where there are lots of girls working.

Someone mentioned perhaps working in a smaller venue? That might up your tips some. I tend to go to smaller clubs where one can get to know the girls working and that also encourages more tips. But personally, it's the girls that have a unique look that catch my attention.

Of course, this is all just one girls opinion. Perhaps we could arrange a private show and I could give you more personalized critique?

j/k lol

Matty - I always try too talk too the customers and i never ever ever mention about tipping me in fact when someone does which aint very often i never even mention the word tip i just emote a thank you without the word tip in it. I can't remember where i heard it but one club i've visited does not like the word tip and it kinda stuck. I'll try hanging at other clubs getting too know people etc.

ah ok Lourdes will do lol

Solanghe - So i should shrink down my boobs a little then and i did try too up my waist a bit but that did not really work.. kinda made me look silly lol. I'll shrink down my boobs though. Yes my skin is a Redgrave personally i love there skins and i've yet too find one that's fairly cheap that's as good. Plus at the moment i can't really afford too change my skin. I'll look into smaller clubs and see what i can find. I've noticed one upto now that holds a few events a day.. anyone ever visited the VIP Room?

Also, do people really pay for this in SL? If you hang out at a WA for 20 minutes you could theoretically get quite a few booty call hits from women quite willing to do all this and more for "FREE". Also many females seem hell bent on showing you dance moves or pole dances they have picked up there as well. or you could just sit and stare at female avatars in silks, or do a search for free sex rooms , or....

So ask yourself what can I do differently from my direct competition and from those giving it away ?

??
There are a lot of lonely and shy people in SL, so yeah, there are a lot of people who are willing to blow their lindens on virtual strippers. As one guy who used to spend a lot of money on me used to tell me, "Strippers are the only girls in SL who will talk to me". The guys who are willing to pay want attention and made to feel special- a bit hard to pull off in a welcome area or free sex room.

Also, a lot of guys visit strippers and escorts on alts to cheat on their partner when she's logged off. So girls who are getting paid are unlikely to kiss and tell.

Just my humble opinion, that's a LOT of text for emotes. Your customers may differ, but if I saw something like that my eyes would just glaze over. Might be better to break it into smaller sentences and space them out a little - the idea being to draw attention to yourself without filling the local chat channel if other folks are trying to carry on a conversation.

Another idea: One thing I've always hated was to walk into a club and be ignored. Usually everybody's too busy either gesture-spamming or dancer-emoting. It can be nothing more than a simple "Hi, Cindy! Welcome to the <xxxx> club!" - it's personal, not a macro.

Then if customers are sitting near you, do you emote in IMs too? "/me slithers sensuously down the pole, shaking her hips in your direction" might get more attention in IMs than in local chat.

This only updates once in a while so it doesn't show your newest profile pic yet, but here's what it looks like on the web right now:

I personally love the Redgrave skins. They're awesome. So don't worry about changing it just yet. Last week I discovered "Another Level" skins, and ended up switching over. I just love the makeup and understated body highlights.

You mentioned my SL avatar. This is her:

You want clubs that have LOTS of events. They're easy to find - check the events listings for a couple of days and see who's busy. The more customers around you, the more tips you'll make.

I agree with all of these, of which (b) is by far the most important.

I will generally tip the DJ and the host always, and one of the dancers - if there's more than one, it'll be the one that was the most friendly towards me.

It's like a catch 22, and I suggest to prospective dancers that they would be well-advised to already have the skin, shape, hair and clothes before they take up dancing for money.
Let's talk Skins and my basic rule

Edit for conversational value: My method of skin-shopping is to pick up a gaziligoogle demos, go home and stand there in my workshop naked trying them on (naked because I do not care for skins that have muddy shadows on the bum or under the boobies). Sometimes it takes a few minutes for them to rez completely, and if so I just IM or sort inventory while I'm waiting. Then I make a notecard and rate each demo, gradually narrowing down to the one or two I liked the most from my last batch of demos.

After that is done, I put my old skin back on and ask myself "Is the new one that much better to warrant the change?" If the answer's yes, I buy. But at no time do I fiddle with my shape.

Ok i'll wait too see when it updates agin

Wow lovely skins and sexy underwear *wink*

No it was not really clubs that have lots of events just more events when i'm online. I live in the UK and can only be around till about 2pm, 3pm SL Time at the latest so i'd kinda like a place that has a couple during the day time but i'll check listings etc.

Thanks for the Link Briana i'll get reading right after this

I have too agree with every sexy as hell shape and now i really need too work on my curves lol.

I dunno. It's possible. But if you don't have a child av (and you don't), and your behavior is adult then maybe all you need to do is state your approximate age in your profile. If people judge you on the name, it's their problem IMO.

These are actually perfect emotes, (Ive danced and currently work in a club as a hostess). If you get very busy tho with multiple tips you may want to shorten them a tad for your hand's sake!

NEVER NEVER initiate an im with a customer. One most clubs prohibit it. Two you start iming your customer spretty soon you have 5 going and can't pay attention properly = lost tips. Three you lose the general chat clients = lost tips.

From my own experience as both a dancer and a customer, I disagree. Long emotes are annoying and disrupt the local chat flow. Not as much as gesture spam, of course, but in a way emotes are just a different kind of gesture.

Agreed on that, and I didn't suggest she initiate IMs. But it can be part of flirting in IMs, which is one way to give special individual attention to customers and generate tips.
