I have no doubt in my mind that we have plenty of sick people that lurk in SL. It's because of these people that LL has taken such strict precautions. Blame them, not me

Uh, why should Robin have her business fucked with because of a tiny, tiny minority of people who are interested in kiddy diddling?

The "cover them up to stop impure thoughts" approach to children is a mirror of the one in which women were seen as the source of men's impure thoughts. Cover up the women, the children, the goats even, lest men's animal nature's get the best of them. The only way to protect everyone is to remove all temptation from men's sight.

So... real life beaches or public pools shouldn't allow children to swim there because there are "sick people" who lurk in RL?

i don't think there's anything indecent about children in swimsuits or proper children's underclothes in RL or SL. Robin's business ads shouldn't be classified as things that are portraying children sexually when they just aren't.

i cannot see how they [the vendor ads in question] can logically be classified as broadly offensive.

Edit: Well Beebo just said what i was trying to say, but possibly better.

Your suggestion that LL needs to take "strict precautions" and make children [people] "cover up" to stop the "sick people that lurk in SL" from having all these sick thoughts..

Sort of leads into that..

Where do you draw the line? There are sickos everywhere thinking sick things. Should we all wear head to toe coverups to stop the sickos from thinking their thoughts?

No Zoey. It is not because of "sick people".

LL does not take a step like this to "take precautions" against perversion. They do not take a step like this to protect children, or anyone else for that matter.

LL is simply concerned about image, and for some unknown reason those who choose to wear under-sized avatars seem to make a much easier target than those who partake of certain other pastimes in SL.

I don't think anyone in this thread is blaming you for anything. But we are an open-minded lot. We do not see perversion hiding behind every prim.

Robin's displays were almost as perverted as a Sears catalog. LL removed them citing the "broadly offensive" clause.

If LL were truly concerned about protecting REAL children they would not have opened the door to letting anyone who can type sign up for SL. So now, after the fact, they protect adults playing kids from other adults instead.

RL kids on the grid wouldn't touch a child av. They're having too much fun pretending to be adults.

And might I add that frequently, when ACTUAL children are found behind avatars, LL's as likely to turn a blind eye as not?

I dunno. I have 2 older brothers. The most frequently heard phraes from Dad when I was a kid were: "Will you come out of the bathroom?." followed by "Where the Hell did I put that Sears Catalog?"

Probably buried under the National Geographics next to the toilet.

"Plenty"? How many IS plenty? In percent is it 75%? Plenty? Is SL jam packed with perverts unable to see and vendor selling child skin with a clothed avatar and not think sex?

If you have "no doubt in your mind" then I think that is where the problem lies and not with a child skin vendor picture.

Feh!!
