Literature too now???

Jesus fucking christ!

What next, will they light massive bonfires and burn the books too?

I can understand laws against child pornography, since that obviously harms children. I'm not sure I understand the laws against all the rest, though, since I'm not seeing how children (or anyone, really) is being harmed, but clearly my poli sci degree has failed to prepare me to understand the intricacies of the law here.

What I think Robin (and anyone else selling child skins) should do, in protest, is put up their signs with the kids wearing burkhas, and then put a sign next to it or give out a notecard explaining why. Hell, show up to office hours wearing the burkhas too.

If you're looking for good burkhas, I'd recommend the International House of Style. I have no affiliation with them, but I've bought other international outfits from them before and they're very good. I think, if memory serves, they sell burkhas and abayas.

Well no. Nothing about the naked child avatar would be cached in a way that would indicate anything. That's a bit overboard on the worry.

Everyone's skins are downloaded to your computer "nude" as is, clothes and such are added on top of the skin layers in the viewer.

If there was child pornography in the area you teleported to then yeah, that would be cached whether you're looking at it or not. But if you happened upon two child avatars roleplaying sex, nothing about that is captured in a way via the viewer that would get you in trouble.

be interesting to find out if this is a policy change you would think they would have sent out notices or warnings rather than acting like the Gestapo.

If it turns out to be Newbie Linden being overzealous reacting to a Newbie Users AR and the skins were previously aproved, maybe it would be a good idea to have some sort of "official seal of aproval" from Linden labs that could be displayed in these stores (I know it wont stop every AR, but it may slow down on the trivial ones).

Furious....furious and sad.

I'm sorry Mari. Both for Robin, and the other vendor, and for you. I would think if LL really wanted to distance themselves from SL's sex reputation...attacking child avatar skins...with baked on underwear... is exactly the wrong place to start.

If they want to wave the "broadly offensive" stick...there are plenty of real targets.

Would a child in a swim suit also be banned? Maybe it's the underwear that's causing the issue.

I agree with Chalice. This is likely the result of one influential resident (or group of residents) ARing with a grudge and Random Linden X making a judgment call just to get the ticket out of the queue. I don't think it's a matter of policy change at all. Do appeal and do keep us posted.

Reminds me of what happened right after the gambling ban.

There was a report of Lindens arriving in an area, Python-Spanish-Inquisition-style, scanning the place, and deleting any objects they found to be in violation. One resident had objects deleted that he had previously altered to comply with the gambling ban. He asked one of the Lindens in question about why his object was deleted, thinking he could get more information about how he might be in violation, but was summarily directed to the LL Blog for available information. The Linden said he could not review the object in question, or, Catch-22-style, tell anything about how gaming objects might be in violation or not, and the Linden would not make any statements about LL policy.

Which to me says, LL likes to keep a foot on either side of any controversy, so as not to upset anyone. They can't make statements about policy, because their actual policy doesn't make sense. So they just make the occasional arbitrary move to keep up appearances.

Are you guys talking about a child skin vendor, with a naked child av, posing skin?

Keep in mind just because you own a sim, does not mean you make the rules. LL has the ultimate power and final decision on what is appropriate or not.

Geesh, read the thread. The skins in question have underwear baked into the texture; they aren't naked.

Robin's skins have baked on underwear, so the children are not naked. That's our point about this being an over-reaction.

Yes, just like kids at a swimming pool. Boys go topless. It's not a friggin' crime and it's not sexual.

Well, but since to being playing 'child sex' you have to have 'child', then they're half-guilty right there.

Just like 'obscene language' requires 'language', so anyone speaking or writing is an accessory to obscenity.

Try putting a mormon garb on them.... that should solve the problem.

I have to wonder about people who see ANYTHING involving kids not covered from head to toe as overtly sexual and patently offensive..

Not saying closeted pedophile or nothing, but it makes me go hmmm..

It's like that story about goats having to cover their genitals with a skirt, lest them tempt some innocent man..

Yes, but what's really bad is that you can see their ankles. Imagine that! Their ANKLES! The outrage!

... You've never been to the swimming pool with kids, have you? Or do you consider that it is a sexual situation?

Typical knee jerk reaction to make sure they cannot be held accountable for anything. Look for it to lead to a full ban of child like avies soon with any bet.

I know I'd rather have child avs with a child skin rather than the one I saw running around with makeup.
